    Gas can used for oil

why would you put 2 cycle oil in its original bottle/can into another plastic container in the first place? Are you planning on pre-mixing it with gas in this secondary container?

    Hull Coating

Dont see how that product is different than any other polish.......never heard of a ligitimate study that says wax below the waterline hurts performance either....and this product claims to be hydrophobic and repels water like wax, so whats the difference? Sounds like a citrus based load of crap....

Bob, I was referring to wet on wet new glass layup vs scarfing for a hole repair, say for the side of the hull. When glassing new laminate, each successive layer of glass should overlap the previous layer of glass by at least 3 inches....that's industry standard for new glass layup.......when...

    Help Please!

Problem is, the outer skin is the thickest and strongest part of the transom...cutting from the outside may be easier as you look at it, but you'll never get the same strength as original.....once you cut the skin, no more continuous layers...and when you re-skin, what do you have left to attach...

Aluminum tanks won't rust but they can oxidize to a white powdery coating.....The muck you show in the picture looks like old, dirty gas....I have gas in a 5 gallon container from last year that I use around the yard...and maybe it's "stale"....but its still clear as day.....thats just...

    Buying a Grady White

the 83 hull would be a great boat for inshore fishing...the newer versions started in the early 90's and have the variable deadrise hull....better for offshore......As with any old boat, the 83 will most likely need a new transom core, hatch re-core, and possibly stringer damage just do to...

    1989 208 Thru Hull Question

if its anything like a Sailfish from that era, its not accessable without cutting.....the drain for the fishbox is probably located on the aft outside corner correct? You may need to cut a 6 or 8 inch pie hole, like the fuel fill access plate, but right in the corner of the gunwale adjacent to...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

the old stuff was just plastic, Delrin I believe, but it could be something else......Marelon is made by Forespar...it is plastic based but reinforced with fibers and has added UV protection....so it gives you great strength for a plastic from the fibers and it takes care of the old degredation...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

Are you sure they were Marelon? My originals were plain old plastic, not the reinforced Marelon stuff.....I just don't want to deal with bond wires and corrosion....I hear good things about this stuff....but no personal history with it...

hi, new member question about soft floors

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

B, what is the rule with that...stainless above or below the waterline? The original cheap plastic on my 88 lasted 20 years then fell apart....I'm going with a quality bronze for the pick up...but for drains and bilges I was thinking Marelon...supposedly, they are fiber filled for strength and...
