hi, new member question about soft floors

No kidding.....I think the key is lining things up level so when you replace the piece you cut out, it falls in like a jig saw puzzle...then fair the seam....putting in a nice wide backing strip that will span both pieces generously should help get a really strong bond and keep it from moving...

hi, new member question about soft floors

That depends I guess on where the cut line is......I made cuts on my rebuild that will be hidden for the most part behind trim work.....So when I go to finish it, I will fair the line and try and paint match the gelcoat color as best as I can, and then cover it with trim.....for areas around...

hi, new member question about soft floors

With what you found originally, i think you need to dig deeper.....lets see some pics of what you found when you cut open the floor....also, before using any epoxy, every area you are going to glue to must be ground smooth/sanded with 80 grit...usually using a disk grinder....otherwise, nothing...

Laboratory Oil Analysis of Lower Unit Oil

since its a gearbox, you can usually tell if there are issues just by visual inspection...milky color means a water intrusion issue and look for mettallic silt in the oil....a little is normal, a lot means something is wearing bad.....unlike engine oil which changes color due to heat and...

    Questions about an 82 Grady

if you plan on restoring, it will run you about 3 or 4K in materials if you do the work yourself....thats stringers, transom, tanks, electrical etc...then you'll have a great hull that will last another 30 years...but it will be a lot of work...if you pay someone, you're looking at 10k for the...

I'm a new member and new owner of a 190

Never heard of one "failing" in the field like that.....if it were that bad, you would think the hull would have/show stress cracks a long time before a catastrophic failure should occur....the Grady hull itself is 100% solid glass.....the stringer system and transom is plywood core covered in...

I'm a new member and new owner of a 190

For that year Grady, folks normally find wetness in 2 areas of the transom.....either near the bottom from screws and thru hulls not properly sealed over the years or on the top of the transom where they put a metal cap over exposed wood that was never sealed.......to check, remove some of the...

that would bother me for sure.....if you cleaned out the pee hole and it still doesnt work, I'd have the water pump checked/changed and see if there is something blocking the tube heading up to the power head.....how long has it been since your last water pump change? predicting good sea conditions in block is sound

Lew, if you take a line from Montauck to Narragansett, you stay on the inside of Block Island and its a pretty safe bet...then the nice ride along the RI shore to Buzzards bay....But if on the day you have calm seas and no wind in the forecast, you can take a more direct route on the outside of...
