1984 20 Overnighter Scupper Relocation Question

Re: 20 Overnighter Scupper Relocation Question As long as the scupper drain is lower than the deck...should be OK...I think a lot of the newer boats have it this way......but I would epoxy/glass in a block to the gunwale where your new hole will be because the angle of the gunwale may not allow...

predicting good sea conditions in block is sound

Lew, I've done the Fishers to Montauck a few times...as long as the wind is under 10-15, its an easy ride.....less than an hour at 15-20mph......Block is sort of in between both stops.....the conditions in the SE area of Block are not much different than going out to Jeffery's Ledge off the...

paul, get a professional to look at it....with its age and all the work thats been done and still needs doing...it may only be worth a grand or two if still running.....you;ll need the extra money to make her sea worthy

Need a pair of fuel tanks :(

Nice...Sounds like good news....I was surprised to hear the wood between the 2 tanks wasn't structural...mine was a glassed in bulkhead with about 3/4 inch space all around each tank...not much room for design change without cutting...I don't use my aux much either...most trips are short and I...

Need a pair of fuel tanks :(

sounds like you are mixing apples and oranges......you have 2 tanks....a 150 and 47 gallon.....you're getting a price for 2 equal size tanks and then you're looking at a single tank of 160, used, either of which may not fit your bilge? You will probably have to modify your bulkhead and do...

    1981 Mako 17 Project - 7/15/13 update

Re: 1981 Mako 17 Project - transom is done!!! Sounds like a good plan.....float it and have 2 large people sit right on the edge of the transom and see how she sits....may save you a lot of work and $$$ in the long run and you'll know for sure.

Re: 1981 Mako 17 Project - transom is done!!! Have you thought about one of these instead? Much less of a cantilevered effect. http://www.bobsmachine.com/Products/jac ... rtible.cfm

    1981 Mako 17 Project - 7/15/13 update

Re: 1981 Mako 17 Project - transom is done!!! I've seen some of those Mako's rebuilds with the bracket...she will sit a little lower, but if you're getting a full floatation bracket like a Hermco and stick with a lighter weight 2 stroke, it may wind up being just fine. Its the 17 foot length...

    Replacement tank - Seafarer

You were lucky...tried that with my car and mower....although the car burned it, it did stumble once and kicked on the check engine light...but the mower needed a carb rebuild after use......its a gamble sometimes.....others have had no problems.....depends how bad the mix was.

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

Would have to see a more detailed pic of what you found, but you may be able to splice in a piece of new stringer to the existing, but still solid remaining section. It becomes a task of getting access to the hull side of the stringer for glassing if its still under the deck....maybe with the...

Nice job on the transom...good work..... Nice striper as well...I think a fillet or two in some hot peanut oil is required for celebration.

Making the switch from Reg Gas to E10

Bingo.....the old non-e10 fuel left a residue inside the tank walls....the new E-10 acts as a solvent to scrub it clean.....you will continually get orange deposits in your fuel system until its all out of your tank, which will take several fill ups and some time for the alcohol to do its...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

I agree, the epoxy will hold on its own......you can use SS screws (if you're leaving them) or regular screws (if removing them afterwards) instead of clamps if you don't have any but its not needed......the key still remains in the underside prep where you will be glueing to....got to get under...
