    Towing Grady with Jeep

I'd rather be overly cautious than potentially injure myself or others because I was at/near/over the limit and something happened that was out of my control. Also, there is a difference between towing with an SUV and towing with a heavy duty truck and it has nothing to do with tow capacity...

    Towing Grady with Jeep

Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it on the highway for that kind of distance. I have a Land Cruiser with a higher tow cap. and a lighter boat (228) and I wouldn't want to drive it that kind of distance on the highway, flat or not. Just because you can (although even that is iffy in...

    Fog outboard yes/no

It might get cold, but your avg. temp. in the winter is still above freezing. Obviously it's worked out just fine for you, but further North I wouldn't push it.

    Water Smells In Freshwater Tank:

As other's have said, you need bleach. Had the same issue with the tank on our 228 when we bought it, water must have been old. I drained it, refilled with water and bleach, drained again, etc. Good as new. We don't use the water much though so I make sure it is empty whenever I get back to the...

    Grady Storage

You ain't kidding about filling up right now. I always fill before winter when I pull the boat and the station I go to was also out of 87 so I had to run premium. Took a few swipes of the credit card since the station has a limit of $100.

    Roughest Seas You’ve Endured - Seafarer 228?

October can me a mixed bag in NY. Some days it's horrible, windy and cold (even snow), others not so much. We were out on Sunday and my wife didn't want to come back in. Then a couple days later and we have a nor'easter.

    Roughest Seas You’ve Endured - Seafarer 228?

We don't get big swells like that around here, it's more of a short chop that can keep you in, especially when it comes from the East and therefore across the Sound/Atlantic.

Who do you have your boat insured through?

Geico Had a claim with them after my old boat after it received damage while on a mooring, didn't have a problem with them processing the claim.

    Gas before or after storage

Located in NY and I always fill at the end of the season. Go to THT and these threads go on for many, many pages. Seems there is no perfect answer so just do whatever works for you.

Boat envy, thinking about a new Marlin 300, have questions.

Pulling it every 2-3 weeks seems awfully excessive (and expensive). My boat lives on a mooring for 6 months per year and I usually pull it once in the middle of the summer. That also coincides with when we go on a longer vacation so it gives me peace of mind should there be a storm while I was gone.
