    228 Windlass install completed.

Good job on the install, enjoy your ProFish. I have the same unit and can give you one important piece of advice.... When anchoring ALWAYS tie off your rode onto your cleat. DO NOT allow the windlass alone to hold the boat in place, especially in high seas. The internal gears are not designed...

    Grady White 228 Pilot House

Thank you for the explanation, makes sense now. I guess you guys need to open up your motors to WOT every chance you can when you are in a stretch of flat water, all that slow trolling can really load up your motors with carbon!

    Grady White 228 Pilot House

I saw that. I guess he does nothing but slow speed downrigger trolling? No high speed outrigger trolling, no Drifting, no bottom fishing? The pics appear to show there are NO rodholders on the gunnels, NO rodholders on the roof, and not even rod racks under the gunnels? Where the heck does he...

How do you fish it with no rodholders on the boat?

I hope you had any wires removed from within those pipes before he started welding....

Easy addition of 4 rod holders to 330 Express

Here is a pic of how I mounted my clamp-on rod holders.

Easy addition of 4 rod holders to 330 Express

Speaking of trolling, I took off my outriggers (no more hassles folding them down for low bridge clearance)...they are no longer needed since we started using these: https://www.sterlingtackle.com/specialty-spreader-bars Who needs outriggers when let out far enough, a pair of Wide Trackers will...

Easy addition of 4 rod holders to 330 Express

I put a pair of clamp-on rod holders on the vertical section of the bow rail (where it enters the deck right in front of the fuel fills as seen in KY's pic above). The holders I used are similar to these, which allow you to adjust the angle of the mounting you prefer...

Winter storage in NE- full or near empty gas tank??

I'm with seasick. Owned 2 Gradys since 1989 and NEVER filled the tanks during winter storage in New Jersey...never had a problem. I still don't fill the tanks during Summer storage in FlaDa nowadays. I keep them as close to empty as possible and hit them with an overdose of Stabil and Startron...

    Frozen zipper’s on canvas

If you are having the plastic replaced, might as well have those old frozen zippers replaced too. So....don't stress over it and take a box cutter to the fabric alongside the zippers and cut them off.

    NJ fishing reports

We were out Tuesday 7/21 on my Buddy's 25 Trophy Pro and connected with a 45.22 lb YTF on a green wide tracker at the triple wreck area late in the AM. The area became congested (even the Golden Eagle party boat from Belmar was there), the trolling bite died and so we came inshore to the Resor...

    Time for new batteries

I agree 100% with keeping a jumper on board. I bought this one last season and had to use it a couple times before replacing my old batteries...this jumper works great! Also has a built-in flashlight, a cigarette lighter socket, and usb ports which can be used to charge a cell phone. Great and...

    Small Offshore Comparison’s

The FlaDa heat can really build up inside the cuddy cabin, especially when stored during the summer as I do. A couple years ago I had my curtains stored inside the cabin, laid flat on the bunk, with old towels placed between the curtain layers to cushion and protect against scratches.....it got...

    1989 Trophy Pro Repower

Although Evinrude is no longer making NEW Etec's, they still stock and produce replacement parts. By the way, I had 200 Johnsons on originally, then re-powered with 175 Evinrude FICHTs, then 200 Etec G1s, and now have on the 200 Etec G2s. I put on an average of over 200 hours per season and run...

    1989 Trophy Pro Repower

Love love love my 200 HP Etec G2's on that hull! I got the TRAC models which do not have the power steering built in, (which were prone to issues in the earlier models) they utilize the existing Sea Star steering system on your boat instead, and they weigh 60 pounds each less than the power...

Tuna fishing from a grady white

Although the posts above about the keen eyesight of the YFT are true, on Monday (6/29) we caught a 34# YFT at the Triple Wrecks (off NJ) on a good old-fashioned cedar plug that was rigged with heavy 80# test mono, trolled 20 feet off the transom....go figure.

Any ideas on how to refinish teak cabin doors

Power wash the doors, let dry, then lightly sand off the "fuzz", and refinish. I prefer Silkens Cetol instead of teak oil, it lasts A LOT longer and looks great.

    Caught on Video

Thanks Trapper, but Haulover Inlet is calm and no problem at all most of the time....no different than Manasquan Inlet in NJ where I've been boating out of since the 1980's. The YouTube videos are made only when it gets interesting.... when there is a strong outgoing tide against a strong wind...

    Grady almost flips

Wind against the tide in Jupiter inlet is definitely worst than Haulover inlet where I always boat out of....I've been through Jupiter inlet several times on the Country Club, an older 40 foot single screw party boat...last time I was on it this past Feb, it came in almost sideways due to the...
