    Yamaha F200 - Ideal Prop

Using a 14x14 SCE4 (4 blade) on my 2021 208 Hardtop with i4 F200. Pretty happy with overall performance and good grip/control running inlets in NJ. I never had the original 14.25x17 reliance, the boat was propped with Solas 14.5x15 HR4 which l thought was overpropped. 5200rpm max, Ken...

    232 Gulfstream being discontinued

Have a 208, would like a 232. Buying new, it is a pretty expensive 23’ boat that has unique strengths as a pocket battleship fishing machine and some limitations as a family boat with only comfortable seating for 4 plus the two jump seats. Hard to say if investment in a cabin and cockpit...

New-to-me 2005 tournament 205 companies that made each part

Was on a friend of mine’s inboard wake/ski boat last year with some very accomplished wake riders and skiers. Wow what a rig! Lake Tahoe, perfect. Useless as a fishing and rough water vessel. Of course we skied as kids off an 18’ Glastron with a Ford 302 and harness off the transom rings...

    Repower options

I have a F200 2.8L on my 208, it’s a great motor fit for purpose but a big V8 sitting low in the back of the hull in a small boat, swinging a fat prop, miss that. Saved yourself a true “boatload” of cash

Grady vs Scout in the 27-28' range

Well that’s a perfect boat for canal cruising, plus you can drop the Bimini and go fly fishing. Regarding the Scout that is no longer on your radar screen but in addition to build quality I’d be looking at resale values.

    Ceramic coating?

After waffling back and forth, and because I am late this year I am just going traditional with a light polish and two coats of sealant. With an orbital and a small boat (208) it’s not too much work. I kinda enjoy it. I use a mild wash/wax to keep up in season and it seems to hold up nicely...

    Help a GW Newbie - De-winterization

I have a 208 with a 200, same hull with the extra weight of a cuddy cabin and hardtop. Your 205 with a 250 should have plenty of push! Nice.

    Gel Coat Stress Cracks

I would be continuing to push Grady to pay for the entire repair! That’s ridiculous. Except for the “bumping” all the other are manufacturing defects, too small bolts, voids, gel coat too thick. On my 2021 208 I have gel coat chipping around the cockpit floor hatch, I believe a combination of...

Gulfstream 232 (single) Or Seafarer 228

I’d be shooting larger unless you have a big concern on docking, say from a slip that is exposed to big winds and current or is very tight. Would be nice on the 232 to power up to 300 or 350 if you can stretch and better for down the line resale. I am thinking my upgrade from the 208 with a...

    2021 Adventure 208 Build

Yes, looks good in that color as well and if you read thru he’s put that rig in a couple of hairy spots for a 20’ boat with apparently excellent boat driving skills. Plus the pics with the all the gear and people and fish are priceless. I’d be wanting a 250 with power steering to haul the load...

    Repairing a small hole

Thanks for the advice. Will try to go inside out or failing that, pack it from outside in as @SkunkBoat advises if that is a void since it is on the upper side of the strake. Hard to see that being a manufacturing defect must have hit something and at that spot may have ingested a lot of...

    Repairing a small hole

Thanks. Yeah you are correct. It is kind of a weird spot, not much static load and not a horizontal surface. Its right there on the front that will take a constant wave strikes. I’ve not done these little glass repairs before but have done metalwork on cars, it typically requires a bigger...

    Repairing a small hole

Getting ready to repair this small hole in the bow of my 208 right at the waterline on the strake. It is about the size of two pencils side by side. Noticed this when doing a quick once over a few weeks ago but have not been inside (the wrap was still on to inspect inside out. Anybody have a...

twin 17yr old yamaha 150s with olny 200hrs would you trust them???

Definitely run in the water under load, one engine at a time. I am assuming there is a sea trial before finishing the purchase is done.

    Sign n glid

I am in NJ out of Waretown, have sign/glide, needed to use it once inside Barnegat Bay. Worked fine, they were very attentive on the phone and followed up after, actually a very personalized service. The representative asked me a few questions that demonstrated they actually knew something...

    OX66 charging second battery

LOL I am that nobody, since my 208 is set up that way. On every trip outbound using one battery and return on the other. If I forget to switch on the way home I will run the boat in the slip to give the second battery a bit of a charge. I have a logbook at the end of each trip and that...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

Good call. I have two ocean tamer teardrop bags on my 208. One stays aboard most of the time, throw on the second for sandbar days. Take some of the stuffing out! Anchored, I jam it on top of the bowsprit/windlass it’s the best spot. Can go onto the beach. Main issue with anybody riding up...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

A more expensive approach but if you have a recommended good marine upholstery shop they can give you ideas and options.

Seakeeper Ride on a GW Freedom 235 ?

A friend of mine has this system on a 23’ Sportsman center console, running from NJ across to Delaware pretty impressive in 2-3’ quartering head sea.

Looking for ideas to get boat & trailer in new garage

Trailer tires are pretty high profile, with tall sidewalls. . I’d think you can safely lower tire pressures enough for the short trip inside, and especially with radial tires not risk damaging expensive tires. At least it’s worth a try to air down a bit and measuring how much you can get...
