What do you tow your boat with?

That's a nice looking set up. I sure do miss my 04' Dodge Cummins crew cab. One of the best trucks I ever had.

What do you tow your boat with?

I'm finding the payoff of being able to work on it at home. I just finished pulling all the rub rail and sealing the seam and all holes below. Someone had done this what looked like quite a few years ago and I'm guessing they removed the whole thing because when they reinstalled the wholes for...

2020 228 on the Monterey Bay

I've got 30+ years experience running boats from 10' to 40'+ and I will look like a newbie in my new Sailfish as often as anyone. I agree the crew helping can be great but make sure they know also to stay out of the way. The boat is very tough and as long as you aren't coming in hot there's not...

    Pacific Northwest Sunset

Wow, that looks just like Jesse's in Ilwaco. Funny how much fishing ports can look alike.

What do you tow your boat with?

BTW, I'm loving all the pictures and seeing how different everyones set up is.

What do you tow your boat with?

I agree with Pighunter, switch to disc brakes on as many axles as you can afford. Be sure to order a new master cylinder designed for the disc brakes you're installing. After 3 or 4 trips one axle of disc will stop better than 2 of drums because drums get out of adjustment easily and quickly...

What do you tow your boat with?

We also now have this motorhome that we tow it to the ocean with and then have someone else splash it for us. Rated for 10k and she does a great job towing it but does eat into the fuel economy real quick.

What do you tow your boat with?

Here's my actual truck and boat. Slightly different angle but looking pretty similar. I guess my truck was destined to tow a Grady. LOL

What do you tow your boat with?

I have seen this question asked many times before. I tow with either my F350 or motorhome. Today when I was looking into the procedure to flat tow my F350 behind my motorhome I checked Ford and this picture from their towing guide cracked me up. It's towing a Sailfish I'm almost certain and the...

    Rub rail sealing help

I have a pretty significant leak into the cabin from the rub rail area. I have already removed it all but about 5' which I will remove and clean up to seal after I put the other end back on. Wanted to keep part attached to keep the same orientation as before. Once removed it became very evident...

Maiden voyage found an electronics issue. Any ideas appreciated

Tracked it down, loose ground wire on the bus bar was the culprit. Started wiggling wires with plotter on until it cut out and that's how I found it. The boat is new to me so I didn't know where the power was originating from so I took everything apart and worked my way back tracing from the...

Maiden voyage found an electronics issue. Any ideas appreciated

So it is only the plotter cutting out. The stereo was on all day and never cut out. None of the other electronics cut out either. I hadn't thought about a loose spade connector. The prior owner had this professionally installed within the last 2 years and said he never experienced this. I'm...

Maiden voyage found an electronics issue. Any ideas appreciated

My Furuno Navnet TZ Touch 2 chartplotter kept shutting down completely and immediately when I would hit any wave that caused a jar through the boat. It happened about 5 times in one day. It would turn back on within a few minutes but was quite the distraction and annoyance. I'm also worried that...

Woohoo! Our new to us 2006 Sailfish passed survey.

WA is 75' but we come in right at 70' with our current set up. She's quite long but after towing her to the ocean this week and back the RV handles it quite well.

Woohoo! Our new to us 2006 Sailfish passed survey.

I brought packing wrap and it wasn't sticky enough to stay on the radar and hardtop. The hardtop flare for the upper compartment and the flare below the windshield are the two areas that got the most of the bug problem. Otherwise it was an easy clean up and a great trip.

Woohoo! Our new to us 2006 Sailfish passed survey.

We will be leaving the boat for a couple months in the water during the main season so we won't be towing it every time. We also have decided when we do tow it we will either have her follow in my truck or have a friend launch it and pull it when we're there. I will not be trying to launch it...

    Giant Bluefin on Marlin

Nice fish! We've heard a few guys this year catching bluefin off the WA coast which is not common. So rare that we don't even have rules for them so they get treated the same as Albacore. That would be fun.
