Looking for a Good Cheap Bottom Paint

I was told by the manager of my local West Marine store that their paint is made for them by Petit, and that it is the same formulation just in the WM can. According to the sales rep for Petit the WM paints are a separate different formulation but made by Petit. I don't know which to believe.

Looking for a Good Cheap Bottom Paint

I am in the same area as you and have had very good success with Petit Hydrocoat water based ablative bottom paint. I 2 coat my bottom and get 3 seasons out of it before the under coat color starts to show through. I have had no issues with grass or barnacles. When I have the boat pulled in the...

    BEST BOTTOM PAINT?

Ask other boaters in your boating area what works best for them. In NJ USA I am using Pettit Hydrocoat, a water based bottom paint with great success. It is an ablative paint that I get 3 seasons out of. My boat is in the water for 6 to 7 months per year. Our water temperature is a little colder...

    is this enough engine?

I think that it would be underpowered, however sea trial the boat and see if it satisfies you. My 272 has twin HPDI 200s and I can come up to plane on just one engine in an emergency.

    Captains Chair Part

Look on Ebay. There are 2 sales under the heading Grady White. I think one is for just the "U" bolt (about $13.00) and one for the complete bolt/knob assembly (about $16.00)

    Bad marine supplier

After going through Paypal I was told today (2 months later) that I would be getting a refund. To date no one at Marine Nutz has ever returned any of my 6 phone messages. I guess the telephone is to complicated for them to use, or they don't care how they treat a customer. I will never use them...

    272 batteries

My 272 has 3 batteries, 1 house with its own separate switch and 2 starting batteries each with switches that can be set to either motor or set to handle both if necessary. When I replaced my local NAPA retailer had a great sale on 1000 cca batteries so that is what I put in. My house battery is...

    Bad marine supplier

To me ,it wasn't a matter of poor inventory control and reporting, it was their not responding to any of my attempts to communicate with them to let me know what was happening. Once I reported them to Paypal, I ordered the part from another source. Marine Nutz wasted my time, and when my money...

    Bad marine supplier

I had ordered a power cable for a radar unit that the inventory showed was in stock. What I ordered does not matter, only that this suppliers business practices do matter. I have gotten a response on another forum that another person has had the same issues with Marine Nutz, including not...

    Bad marine supplier

Beware of Marine Nutz marine supply. Their business practices have gotten them a BBB rating of F. I purchased and paid for a part that was in stock. After waiting 3 weeks, calling and leaving 4 messages and sending 4 emails with no reply or response of any kind I finally contacted Paypal to...

Grady? Capsized on 2/27. Off Hatteras

The hull truth has a post. All 4 were picked up by the CG with in 15 minutes of their emergency call. All of their safety gear was working properly. Now is the time to test our safety gear before it is needed. I am thankful that everyone was all right.

Opinions on 24' Off Shore and 25-26' Sail fish

It depends on if you are going to trailer the boat. The 24 foot off shore is 8 ft wide and does not need road permits. If you are not going on the road thes get the 25 Sail Fish that is 9ft 6inches wide. So much more space for fishing etc. I had the old style 25 Sail Fish with the cut out stern...

    lost 1 engine, possible repower

JB: I had the 200 hp OX motors. My 200 HPDI motors perform as well as a friends 272 with the OX 225's and much better than my old 200's

    lost 1 engine, possible repower

I also lost one of my OX66 motors. I chose to go with 2 200 hp HPDI motors that were rebuilds. The boat yard took my engins in trade. Including installation it cost me $12.000. The HPDI motors gave me 5 mph more speed at the same rpm of 4000 and the mpg went up from 1.2 to 1.75, and with half of...

    Lettering for Side of Grady

Go to any good sign shop in your area and tell them what you are using the sign for and what you are putting it on. They have different grades of vinyl, and the sign guy will know the proper one to use. They all have computers that they can scan your design in to and make the final lettering any...

    282 Questions

The head room will be tight but better than on most other boats of that length. The Marlin has a 10"6" beam which is 1 foot wider than the Sailfish. This may give you more bunk length. I have to sleep in the middle of the "V" birth so my feet can hang over. The port and starboard sides of the "V"...

    2stroke vs 4stroke

I went with 200 hp HPDI direct injected. I considered the 4 strokes but they were to heavy for the 272 and the HPDI motors get great mpg vs the 4 stroke motors. Also, the cost of the 4 strokes was very much higher.

    Props for 200hp HPDI's on Islander 268

Abielike. With a 28 foot Grady fishing boat I really don't give a hoot about "hole shot", I really care about being able to put the engins in a good cruising speed of 3400 rpm to 4000 rpms and get better miles per gallon of fuel. At 3600 rpms I am getting 1.7 to 1.8 miles per gallon burn rate...

Taking a trip from Lewes DE to Avalon, NJ

I would stay off shore a little further keeping 20 to 30 feet under the keel. This keep you in the longer swelles rather then in the shallow chop. I just came back in to Atlantic City Great Egg Harbor Inlet. 2 miles off the beach was much more comfortable than 1/2 mile out.

    Props for 200hp HPDI's on Islander 268

I am using 14.5 X 19 on my Yahama 200 hp HPDI counter rotating motors on my Sail fish 272. At WOT I am getting 5200 rpm. The specs for this motor call for 4500 to 5500 rpm.
