    Pulpit rail replacement.

I replaced the pulpet rail on my GW sailfish several years ago. I got the replacement from Sommers Point when Kieth and Kathy were still there. Call again and talk to Rob Sabastion ( my spelling of his last name is probably wrong) the head of the shop. They can get you the part, but like...

which engine set up is better

In a salt water environment I prefer an outboard since you can tilt the motor up out of the water thus eliminating electrolysis in the expensive gear case when not being used. If the boat is kept on a trailer then it probably doesn't matter.

    Windshield Wiper Wiring Problem

The windshield wipers are a strange animal as far as the wiring goes. The motors are wired hot all of the time. There is a 3rd wire that controls the start and stop/park functions. The motor that runs all of the time must be replaced or do what I did. I disconected the start wire and moved the...

Sailfish 272 fuel economy and engines

I have a 95 272 Sailfish. It had OX66 200 hp motors. I replaced them with 200 hp HPDI motors because of the extra weight of the 4 strokes at the time. If you go to 4 strokes be sure to get the new lighter weight Yahama motors. The 282 was Grady's answer to the added weight of the 4 strokes. The...

    synthetic for yamahas

I have 2 Hpdi 200 hp motors. I have used only Yamalube in accordance with my installing dealer. I also use Ring Free and Stable per his instructions. The motors run great. My dealer buys 55 gallon drums of this oil and repackages into 1 gallon jugs. As long as you return the emptys he will...

    GPH...272 Sailfish w/twin 225 2 strokes

I had twin 200 OX66 on mine. I got 1 mile per gallon at 3500 rpm,23 mph. Replaced them with 200 hp HPDI motors, with the same props. Now getting 29 mph and 1.8 mpg at the same 3500 rpms. A friend with a 272 and 225 OX 66 motors is getting the same results as I got with my 200s

4 stroke vs HPDI on a Grady CC

I have a 272 that weighs a little more than your boat. When I repowered 2 years ago I went with the HPDI 200 hp motors. I did this because of the cost factor but more so because of the weight. The new lighter Yahama motors were not out yet. My boat with the 200 hp HPDI motors is 6 mph faster...

Switch for power console has reversed direction??

The 12 volt motor that raises and lowers your Simrad is sensitive to the polarity of the DC current flow. Something got switched from positive to negative so the switch is acting backwards. There are 4 solutions, 1 remove the switch and change the wires, 2 leave the wiring alone and turn the...

    268/270 or 272/282

I have the 272 with 200 hp HPDI motors. The 272 has a step up hull in the stern. Up until the new lighter weight V6 Yamaha 4 stroke motors you would probably have a weight problem with repowering. The 282 is basically the same hull but with a full running bottom that seems to provide the...

    Hatch Blemishes ?

I was planning on building a box with a vent hole, a very small fan in it like a computer fan and mount a heat lamp in the box, and a voltage control (variac) I will provide power for the heat lamp through a 120 volt thermostat so as to keep the temperature in the box under 175 degrees F, as a...

    Hatch Blemishes ?

I have the same problem on my boat I patched the deep chips with marinetex only to have them pop out over the winter. I think that water has gotten into the core and during the winter freez they just poped out again. I an going to try to dry the hatch out over this coming winter by bakeing the...

Seabob is correct. I should have said that the air pressure over hydrolic fluid systems have been discontinued a long time ago.

    Hard power steering

You do not have power stearing, you have a hydrolic pump stearing system made by the Hynautic Co. Yes it takes air pressure to operate it. Make sure you have the proper power stearing fluid for your application then using a bike pump or a 12 volr auto pump put in about 35 to 40 pounds of air...
