Know any good yamaha mechanics NJ?

I use Corkey at Campbells New Generation Marine in Somers Point NJ. They are located on Kapella ave. 609-641-0489. They are great mechanics. I have found them to be honest, fair, fast, and reasonably priced.

Ready to buy my new boat... but what? Input needed

    1) The Sea Ox is priced lower because their resale value does not hold up like the resale value of a Grady does. 2) I chose the 200 HPDI motors as replacements on my Grady over the 4 strokes because of the weight and because they are as efficient as the 4 strokes for my type of use. I love my...

Do I need to Bottom Paint?

It all depends on the type of paint that is on the bottom now. If the paint looks good with full coverage and is an ablative type paint then you are "OK". If the present paint is not a self polishing ablative paint then you will have to re paint the bottom and follow the time constraints...

    bottom paint??

I have used Hydrocoat paint for the last 6 years with very good results. West Marine now markets this paint under their new "Earth Freindly" or something lile that for about $10.00 less per gallon. Like all other ablative paints the first coat of bottom paint should be some other color so you...

    Is this a good deal?

I have the 95 272 sail fish and had 200 hp OX66 motors. It was a very good boat. I purchased it right so when one of the engins through a rod I still wasent hurt having to replace the motors with 200 hpdi motors. The hpdi motors make the boat a great boat, more like a friends with 225 hps. I am...

I repowered my old OX66 motors with 200 hp HPDI motors. I had throwen a rod and had to do something. Need Your Thoughts-Yamaha Engine Recommendation

I chose to repower my old OX-66 with the HPDI. I run about 200+ hours per year. The savings in fuel economy will pay for theselves. With your 40 hour per year usage it may take longer than the life of the motor to recoup the difference in the cost of the more expensive engine. However, the...

    Running on a single engine

I have a 272 sailfish with twin 200 hp HPDI motors. I can get the boat up on plane with a single motor running at 3400 to 3600 rpm. I would not want to do it for any extended legnth of time, but I tested my boat to see what it would do in an emergency if I really needed to do it.

    marlin 300 owners

I have a sailfish 272 with the same configuration of having the ladder on the opposite side from the transom door. I don't like this set up, I was told that it was done that way so it will be easier to pull large fish onboards and that the ladder would get in the way. A ladder can be put on the...

    question about potential purchase

I have a 272 with twin 200 hpdi motors. This combination is well matched and is much better than the old OX66 200 hp motors. I feel that the 150's are probably to small ror the 272. The 200 hpdt motors have provided about 6 mph more speed at 4000 to 4100 rpm cruising. I am now getting 1.8 to 1.9...

Fuel consumption and weight of a sailfish

I have had a 25 foot Sail Fish with twin 175 hp Johnsons motors. At cruising speed on plane I was getting 1.2 mpg. Sold the 25 and got a 27 foot Sail Fish with twin Yahama OX66 motors. At 4000 rpm cruising I was getting 1.1 mpg. I then replaced the 2 strokes with twin Yamaha HPDI 200 hp motors...

    '86 Sailfish repower options

I have a 95 GW sailfish 272 that I repowered with 200 Yamaha HPDI motors. I could not be happier. I also found a pair with low hours, 105 on one and 0 hours on the other. My boat yord installed them for $13.000. It is the best boat/power combo that I have ever had. With the old OX 66 200 hp's I...

    Looking at getting into a '97 27' Sailfish....HELP!

I have a 1995 272 with twin 200 HPDI motors. It is a great boat for fishing both in shore and off shore. I have had it in Long Island Sound where the water is choppy and I had to slow the boat down a little, and I have had it out in deep water off of Atlantic City with 8 foot seas with out any...

    Interesting trade

Although the 25 Sailfish is 1 foot wider the fishing area is not bigger. The motor takes up room. The big down side of the IO is that the drive is always in the water and very subject to corosion and galvanic action in the salt water enviornment that you are in. I feel that you would be better...
