    272 Vs. 282

I have a 1995 272. There is a difference in the hull from my 272 and the 282 hulls that I have seen is that my 272 has a step up in the stern that is about 2 foot long with the trim tabs coming off the lower part of the step rather than at the stern. I beleave that the 282 with the full running...

    Grady White & Racoons

Don't blame it on the Grady. Racoons will bed down anyware safe near there food source. Make sure that any food that is kept onboard or in the near vacinity ( trash cans etc ) are securly closed and locked. Racoons are very good at opening food containers.

    Hydrofoils on twin engined Gradys

I have the GW factory spec 13 3/4 X 19 props. The boat does come up on plane but it takes obout 25 to 30 seconds for the bow to come down and the stern to rise. Even on plane the water rolls up to the bottom of the motors.

    Hydrofoils on twin engined Gradys

I have a Sailfish 272 with the step hull configuration and with twin 200 HPDI motors. I am considering putting on a pair of Sting Ray hydrofoils to help lift the stern. I have a lot of water comming up under the motors even on plane and it takes to a lot of time to bring the bow down while...

    272 Sailfish

Tucker. I threw a rod through the block, and needed a new power head on one 200OX motor and I had 1125 hours on the other. At the cost of a new power head and the expectation of having to re-do the other in the near future, I decided to replace both. I found a set of 2 year old 200 HPDI Yamaha...

True differnce between the seaV2 hull and pre 1992 hulls

I went from a pre seav2 252 to a seav2 272 and noticed that I can use the boat much more comfortably in colder weather. I stay dryer. The boat also allows me more speed when hitting the waves head on

    272 Sailfish

I have a 95 272 with the step hull and twin 200 hpdi motors. I couldnt be happier. I replaced the 200 hp OX motors with the hpdi motors. The speed has increased by about 4 mph, the fuel use rate has increased from 1.1 mpg th 1.6 mpg at 4200 rpm, and there is a lot less smoke. The 200 hpdi motors...

    Trailering a 272 sailfish

    Captains chair wobbles

The other reason for a wobbly seat it that there is a hard plastic piece that goes between the the bottom of the seat hole and the aluminum post that holds up the seat. These plastic tubes can dry out and crack. The part is available for around $16.00 at the Grady dealer, as well as the plastic...

    Soggy cabin ... troubleshooting

I had the same issue on my 252 and my 272. I found that the black rubber window seal/holder has shrunk which caused the corners to pull apart about 1/4". I put in some black silicone caulk in the corners. after it cured I made it look pretty with a single edge razor blade. My problem was solved

    Broken bolt

I had the same problem. I was able to cut the zinc anode off with a hack saw and once it was split I used a hammer and a small chisel to spread and clear the zink away from the bolt shaft. I then used an penetrating spray and visegrips to rock the remanider of the bolt out. On my twin powered I...

    Sailfish question waterline ?

I have the 1995 Sailfish 272 with the step hull in the stern with 200 hp HPDI motors. A friend has the 282 with the straight bottom all the way to the stern. Both hulls are SeaV2 design. The step hull is a little faster (1.5 mph) and a little more fuel efficient (.2 gph) than the full length...

    Windshield Wiper Problem

You have 2 choices. 1) replace the motor or 2) disconect the always powered 3rd wire on the windshield motor. These motors are always powered with 12 volts and the park position wire is the one that is switched. When these motors get old the park position switch does not work properly. By...

    Batteries in Winter

I also leave my batteries in the boat but I keep a small solar trickel charger hooked up to each battery. This keeps the battries fully charged. I got the solar cells at my local NAPA store. They are under $30.00 each. I did put a bead of silicone around the plastic bezel and the glass face...

    Water Heater on 2002 Sailfish

When I said turn on the water heater on I was refering to the electric power to the heater. I would open a faucet on the hot water to see if any water comes out. It reguires that the pressure pump to be on to get the initial fill up of water in the spring after the water heater was drained for...

    Water Heater on 2002 Sailfish

It only takes about 30 seconds or less to burn out the electric elements on a water heater if the heating elements are energized with no water around the elements to take the heat away from the element. This goes for any electric water heater in a boat or in a house or business. The...

    HPDI VS 4 strokes

I concure with the HPDI savings on my 272, and they are lighter so there is no scupper below the water line issues. I was able to find a pair of 200 HPDI engines, one with 0 hours on a complete new Yamaha remanufactured engine and one engine with 121 hours. Including removal of the old OX66...
