    Boat Separation

Weather was not good in the northeast, espacially weekend. Even with bad weather it was nice to escape to the boat for a few hours here and there . Definitely need a longer season!

Two questions - Sirius XM tuner and bait tank

Have a 2010 Marlin that we've owned for 18 months. Love the boat. Added a 60-gallon bait tank in the cockpit but are also still using the factory bait tank behind port seat. We do a lot of live bait fishing in So Cal so using both allows us to carry a ton of sardines for offshore trips...

    Purchase of 2004 Sailfish

I am biased as I repowered my 04 SF 5 years ago with mechanical 4.2L. and I will tell you it is the prefect power packacge for the Sailfish. I struggled with investing 50+K in and 18 year old boat but when I considered the overall condition of my my boat and the cost of trying to repalce it I...

Yamaha 300 HP not full going down

I have 2017 4.2L f250s. Both trim units were replaced after one year under warranty - a year later one on the engine would only tilt down to the top of the trim pistons. The Dealer to told me to use the engines to force the engines down a a measure to keep boating for the week. He said it is a...

Battery removal tool for 270/282 Islander/Sailfish

I had to replace my port battery on my 282 this year and I think I over analyzed the situation. I had a variety of thoughts - take all batteries out and slide new one right and left. rig up a hoist to somhow lower the battery in. make a slide the the battery could just slide down. Finally just...

    Hot Water Heater 265 Express

Bob - When you drain your water tanks i would watch how much water actually comes out. I was having issues with mine not winterizing correctly and I found something (must be sediment ) is blocking the tank from emptying all the fresh water. The only way for me to get around it is to put 6...

    Transom Failure Incidents

I know of one that was taking on water but I am not convinced it was transom rot issue. The person was a new boater and was noted for whacking boats, docks and pilings with the engine when exiting or arriving at the marina. My suspicion is it was user inflicted. The situation was corrected by...

    Refit of 2002 282 - It begins

What ever happens do not let them repower until the bang cap is replaced - I did a stupid thing a few years back and repowered without the bang cap and now it is a 3,300 expense to remove engines and replace the cap/

To repower or not...2004 282 with dual Yamaha F225"s

I repowered couple of years ago with F250's 4.2L and the the price with install was 50K. My original quote was around 65K bc that included new electronic shifting gauges etc. They do have a mechanical 4.2L f250 that uses existing controls and gauges - great option for repower - the electronic...

    Not enough power?

When u normally go out with one or 2 are you able to get to max out higher than 5200. The engine should be closer to 6K at max. Could be a prop size issue?
