    27 Sailfish vs. 28 Sailfish

The 1' was always there. The 282 and '98 & later have the same hull. The marketing gurus are the only difference.

    27 Sailfish vs. 28 Sailfish

The running surface was changed to full running bottom with the '98 model. I think it had a negative affect on the running angle of the boat. Extra aft floatation pushes the bow down making the boat want to track in cross seas.

    27 Sailfish vs. 28 Sailfish

Hull is the same the 272 and 282 are both 28' cl. My '98 has the rear bench seat which I really like. I understand the aft cabin is smaller, there is no longer a recessed boarding ladder, cabin windows are different, hardtop is different. Probably more differences than improvements in my opinion.

    Who is right?

I've been running rough inlets my whole life. Either as a young passenger or operator. When you are coming in a tight inlet with standing waves a slowdown because of an idiot blocking your safe path is not an option unless you want to risk your passengers and boat. I see a lot of jet skiers...

Cleaning out strainer for AC intake pump?

Mine's under the cabin sole in my Sailfish. Awkward to get to as hoses run across it. I silicone the threads but I've found putting a koozie on the housing makes loosening it easier.

    Jabsco Electric Head Problems

The Jabsco electric can be a troublesome unit. I replaced the motor on my '98 Sailfish in 2007 and it has run fine since. Still do normal maintenance such as paper gaskets occasionally. I did impeller, duckbill and top gasket at the same time I replaced the motor. Check your grounds. I do flush...

Grady white Air Conditioning water pump

First determine why it needs to be replaced. I thought mine was in death throes from the noise it was making but it turned out that the impeller set screw had backed out and the impeller was wobbling. I priced them at Boat Owners Warehouse and found that the OEM pump was way more expensive than...

    Anchor problem

Hi Jeff, Don't run it tight with the windlass. Get a chain lock and keep the tension off the windlass. You can cause windlass lockup by making the windlass tension the chain.

    Spray 9 Cleaner ?

My experience on my 1998 Sailfish has been that it melts the interior caulking and removed the printing on my Jabsco labels. Its a great cleaner but I only use it on fiberglass, metal and step treads.

    Honda EU2000

I bought mine 2 days before Frances. FEMA denied my claim. I said to the FEMA jerk ok, so you reward ignorance instead of preparedness. He replied, "yeah".

    Marlin Storage Questions

I moved from a 25 Mako Cuddy to a 272. Wanted to get a 30 but there was no dockage available at my favorite marina, then, and they wouldn't let me put a 3' boat in the traier boat storage area so I went with the 27. My Mako had 201 gal fuel capacity and I could load for a weekend in the Bahamas...

    Sea Star Hydraulic Steering

I agree on rebleed. I just installed a Seastar system on my 17 Mako. I bought paint filters at Home Depot to filter the bled fluid. Worked fine and the filter mesh is probably tighter than recommended.

Honda EU2000i Generator on Marlin 300

There are a number of posts on the EU2000. Do a topic search. I put mine on the euro transom stb. I have 2 starboard L's screwed to the deck to keep it from walking. While running you could mount it in the cockpit with the exhaust facing the transom door with the door open. I wouldn't do that...

Help with mid 90's sailfish freshwater system

On my '98 I removed the faucet. There are 4 plastic caps covering the screws. Close the sink stopper first because they have a tendency to fly as you pry them out. My pump was cycling a while back so I tightened every clamp I could find. Still cycled but far less often. Found the added pressure...

    Hey Gary M.

I've never encountered ethanol in the Bahamas. My wife & I have LBO cards makes rentry a phone call. I don't think the card is available for kids so you'd have to appear at a customs office for them. I've never verified the kid part so you may want to check, if applicable. Also if you take a...
