T%hanks, My '98 OX 66s have only had Yamalube, any problems on conversion to Pennzoil?

Recently I've been hearing of people, service techs as well, switching to Pennzoil synthetic instead of Yamalube. Also recommended to using Techron additive instead of ringfree. Any experience, thoughts on this?

Marine Spray 9 dissolved the Grady installed caulking in my shower walls and blurred the labels of my Jabsco head. Won't use it again. The degreaser Home Depot sells in the black bottle is cheap and an excellent bilge cleaner. HD sells rustoleum for $6.95. $9.95 for same stuff at West.

I use Klear to See. A lot of people use Pledge spray wax.

I just did my 225 OX 66's. For better access I removed the rear latch. 2 bolts easy on & off. I also replaced the hose and valve cover housing. Mine are 1998s and there was a lot of corrosion on the tail. Take your time and it is easy. My bolts came out with no problem.

If the pump is jammed or the motor has been infiltrated by water & seized, the fuse will blow.

Take the electric conversion off & disassemble upper and lower chambers. Spray with clorox as you proceed to disinfect. I agree prob a jam at the chopper. My '98 272 has the 10 year hoses on all thru hulls. I always see the head intake & discharge when I open the seacocks. I also check the hoses on the baitwell & wash down pump periodically. Those are in the same environment as the scupper hoses and show no signs of deterioration. I close all...

I was told by a supplier that the hose is called "10 year hose" because that is its projected life.

Don't overlook the windshield wiper post seals or the windshield washer supply hose & connections. A water leak is a cruel mistress.

The issue isn't gov, its your insurance co. If you don't have the permit ins may not cover you regardless of fault.

Point of info on F250,300 & HPDI. According to my Yam svc. mgr. when dealing with my recent poppet valve issue on an OX66 225, the poppet valve on the ref motors is mounted behind the ECU. Due to its relative inaccessibility it is rarely checked and can cause major problems.

I should have read your post about the ECU closer. The boat is at dock so the job had to be done with the motors tilted full up. Did unbolt the cover latch do aid in access. All bolts came out easilly, added neverseize at reinstall. Stbd. had the hose really expanded, enough to break plastic...
