Windlass anchor rope “rode” tangling/jam fix?

That's what I did for my setup. It works out much better than the 3-strand I had before. I can't say it is foolproof, but much better. I also added a remote for the Lewmar so I can mess with it from the bow instead of having to go back and forth from the switch in the dash to the bow/winch.

    2003 282 Windlass Question

Now my son has moved away, I got a remote for the Lewmar so I can operate it from the bow, and give it a kick if it sticks at deployment. I also try to not retrieve it all the way tight. It is a 14# Lewmar 'plow-type'. If I were able to do it again, I'd figure out how to add more space...

    2019 Yamaha 200HP Blows Main/PTT 20amp fuse intermittently

Had a good trip from to Catalina Sunday. A little frustration at the launch ramp. Port motor started right up, that's the one that has the problems. Starboard wouldn't start, not even turn over. After cussing on it, and that didn't fix it, I took truck/boat to back end of launch area...

    2019 Yamaha 200HP Blows Main/PTT 20amp fuse intermittently

Slight update. After failing to get the boat running properly again, I took it to a different shop (the one they sold the new engines to me in 2019). After troubeshooting for a while, the mechanic contacted Yamaha. Apparently they found a bad 'diode' in the engine harness. It took a while to...

    repower 232 Gulfstream

Hi Patrick, I repowered in 2019 to new 4-cylinder Yamahas. I know there would be a lot of rigging to do plus new/different bracket to go from single to twins. My point is that it sounds like some of the others he that have gone with single 300hp single see similar performance that I do with my...

    2019 Yamaha 200HP Blows Main/PTT 20amp fuse intermittently

Thanks for the reply. So maybe there could be something to the loose connection. I'm taking it out Friday to Catalina Island (hopefully) for the Summer. And I bought a pocketful of micro 20amp fuses in case it blows. They were hard to find last year, when looking for a Yamaha packaged unit...

    2019 Yamaha 200HP Blows Main/PTT 20amp fuse intermittently

Thanks for the response. I don't know if there is any issue with the PTT, I am just trying to narrow down what could be causing the 20amp fuse blow without a symptom that is readily able to determine the cause from. The tilt/trim seems to work without any issues. I think the idea of cycling...

    2019 Yamaha 200HP Blows Main/PTT 20amp fuse intermittently

I'll be 'trying out the fix' that the mech said was needed. I've had another thought (that can be dangerous :)), that maybe it truly is an issue in the trim/tilt (that is how the fuse is labeled; Main/PTT). If it blows, I plan to replace the fuse again, but run it without changing the trim and...

    2019 Yamaha 200HP Blows Main/PTT 20amp fuse intermittently

Thanks, I am skeptical of the loose connection as well. I thought more in the short or bare/chafed wire somewhere. I am trying to track down a wire diagrame (or a Service Manual) for my motor; difficult to find. Thanks for the response and I'll post what happens the next time I use it. I am...

    2019 Yamaha 200HP Blows Main/PTT 20amp fuse intermittently

I have two 2019 Yamaha 200HP (inline 4) motors on my 2004 GW Gulfstream. It has about 120 hours. During last year's season, it has developed an annoying issue to blow the Main/PTT 20amp fuse intermittently. When is blows, the engine shuts down and the guage on the dash does as well. It is the...

    What Grady to get?

I had a 1993 208 from 2001 to 2019. It was a great boat. I fished on the coast of Southern California most of the time, including the Catalina Island. It had a hardtop, which I added and made the boat even more usable (shade and storage). I had a Johnson 200 Ocean Runner and boat would top...

    Marine head for Gulfstream

I have thought about doing the same thing on my Gulfstream. Based on the simpicity of the porta potty, I haven't researched much. Easier to replace if something is not working. That said, a nice vacuflush would be an option to look at.

Oversize cup holders in the gunnels of a 228?

Have you thought about these? I am thinking about them on my boat. Not sure how it will fit on the gunwale, yet.

    Power tech prop

I got two PTZ3 14-1/4x16's from Ken over the weekend. Can't wait to try it out. It is replacing two Reliance 14-1/4x18, that barely get the boat into operating range (5400rpm) at WOT. I'd like to be closer to the high end, up to 6000rpm. Talking with Ken, go down in pitch. Can't wait to try...

    Electronic Upgrade?

I am considering an upgrade of my electronics on my Gulfstream. It is currently a vintage Furuno GPS, Fishfinder unit with separate display for radar. All 2004 units. I recently had Furuno replace the built in battery for the GPS/Fishfinder. I like Furuno, I have had a newer (2011)...

    Yamaha f225 knocking sound

I had a similar sounding knock from the port side 2004 Yamaha 200 hp engine on my GW Gulfstream a few years ago. The sound would be there and if I shut down and restarted a while later it was gone. Then it would come back again. After a few short trips like that, the noise was there all the...
