I think in 1990 it was the 28 Marlin. It had the Sea Vee 2 hull though.

I don't see how a 300hp single couldn't work. You see a ton of 25 sailfish with twin 150's. why not a single 300. same hp less weight. I've seen guys run a single on these boats they look like they go along just fine.

My thinking is a single 300 on a boat that I have seen many times with twin 150s if fitted with the correct prop has to perform decent. you obviously forego the advantages of twins but think of the weight savings.

There is a 255 in the marina next to mine with a 300 Etec on it...so its been done before. Wash I could tell you more but I don't know the guy.. The boat has been back year after year with on motor on it so he must be happy.

The way the 257 is described in the brochure listing shaft lengths for twin or single alludes to me that the Grady engineers designed that boat for single or twin power...which tells me that although yes the additional weight is there with the twins the boat was designed with that in mind

Gamechanger Im guessing you have a pulpit on your boat? I was told I cant put a windlass on my Adventure not enough space for the rode it will tangle before dropping inot the locker. I have a 96 Adventure no pulpit.

39000 for 40 horsepower? that's more than a bit steep.....run them 130s til they blow up...use the 39000 for something else

if you want a "go-fast" boat buy a 'go-fast" boat like a Baja or a Fountain or something like that....That's a lot of weight hanging on the stern.

If I owned a Marlin ot would sit in the water....I would invest in really good bottom paint. trailerinf a boat like that is a chore...putting it in and pulling it out by yourself?? no way I would want that task.
