    drain fittings for electronics box?

The flop down electronics box on my 226 has two drain hoses with fittings. One broke. It's a white ribbed plastic piece. Anyone know where to get a new one?

226 V700 windlass, SS bow roller install - any tips?

No pulpit, just the bow roller. Not sure how to have the rope coming out the locker if I want to keep the anchor on deck though.

226 V700 windlass, SS bow roller install - any tips?

Bumping this thread for the new season. Still looking at doing a Stainless bow pulpit, windlass, and new hatch doors. Too keep cost down, I might just start with the pulpit and keep the anchor out on it to simplify anchoring witthout a windlass. Won't that make retrieving easier?

Can a hard top be made that folds down?

Yup, the boat is great. We only had it out 5 times last year due to a new infant. But now he's 18 months and older brother is 3.5 so I hope we'll get more use this season. My parent's nixxed raising or moving the parking canopies. So I could do a hardtop and keep boat at a marina, or just...

Can a hard top be made that folds down?

Yeah that's what I thought. I'm researching how to raise the 12x31 carport we currently have. I has 8' legs so it'll probably have to go up another 3 feet to clear and hard top and radar. The legs are one piece so I'd have get leg extensions fabbed up. I would also have to convince my...

Can a hard top be made that folds down?

I'd love a hard top for my 226 for the shade and I could run a radar to my SIMRAD, and the benefit of a solid hand-hold. But I'm a trailer boater and I keep the thing under a hard top canopy. So I'm either stuck with my soft top, or I wonder if a hard top could be made that folds back into the...

    how to learn to fish?

I want to learn how to start fishing with my grady. Where do I start? Any good websites? I boat on the Potomac between DC and just south of the 301. But my wife really wants some rock fish (stripers), so I may have to trailer further south or hit the bay. My fishing experience is limited to...

Took delivery 1 year ago today

Congrats! I'm approaching 1 year ownership this month on our 2001... We're opposite of empty nest, we just filled ours up. Only had the boat out 4-5 times last year because of the baby. But now he's currently 16 months and older brother is 2.5, I hope to get on the water a little more. Ever...

    Boat names

My wife christened our boat "lady grady". When we hailed the dock master at national harbor, they held a 50' slip for us and we're turning away all the day boaters. When we approached the dock we yell across, we're the lady grady. You should seen his disappointment! I think we was expecting a...

Need advice for towing from Virginia to San Diego

I've done the drive with a big uhaul trailer. Take southern route- 95 to 85 through Atlanta, then 20 across. I'd go for hotels, you'll freeze in the cabin and the shower will be worth it. Buy a hub loaded with bearings. Tools needed to swap, and a jack. After the first 10-20 miles on...

    What fenders do you use?

I was reading about the tyler made ones that the rope goes through the center so you can mount it verticle or horizontally easily and it "rolls" with the boat to reduce marring. I might try that. I trailer the boat, so there's all kinds of different wooden docks I encounter. Here's my boat...

    What fenders do you use?

What fenders work best on our boats? I have some fancy color matched flat ones from my previous Donzi, but they don't fit right on the rub rail and either flatten under it, or flip up and out of the way. I want to have a pair that I can hang from the stern and mid cleats.

Bennett Trim Tab Issue with 228G

Yes, he does. Also I'm pretty sure there is no bleeding proceedure- just make sure the tank is full and running the tabs up and down purges the air out. The switches do crap out, I've had two boats and each needed new switches.

Seafarer 228G: When Was The Last Major Design Change?

I just remembered reading something about grady moving the fuel tank forward to better balance the heavier 4 strokes. Was that in '03? My tank is located aft and there's a huge empty space under the floor for an aux tank. I've read about some owners putting hinges on the lid, and finishing...

Seafarer 228G: When Was The Last Major Design Change?

I think that 1998 window change also upgraded to the wrap around curved windshield. The switch panel change moved the switches from the starboard gunwale (where the driver can bump switches) to a new shaped panel to the front/right of the driver. Pre '06 style: '06+ style:

    intro and 228 vs 232 vs 258

No road trailering- I'd get a 232. I climbed on most of them of the boat show and the 232 is much bigger thaN it's extra length shows on paper. The 9' 3" beam and higher freeboard make for a much larger feeling boat. The cabin is much larger in volume, although the double bunks on one side...

    Seafarer v. Overnighter

I love my 226. After owning a 22' Donzi, I'm so happy to not have an old I/O anymore. I'm sorry, but I'd rather have an engine designed from the drawing board to be on a boat, rather than a car engine adapted to a boat. Impellers exploding, cast iron blocks with salt water running through...
