New guy here with a few questions about a 228 Seafarer

I live 60 miles North of you on Samish Island. I had a GW 22 for 4 years and loved it. I fished kings, bottomfish, spot prawns, etc. The boat handles fine alone, and I towed and launched 2x/yr with my V6 Tacoma no problema. Single 225 was great power, i definitely loved having kicker for...

    1996 marlin 300 repowering options

I think, now that you have purchased them, that you should enjoy and take good care of them, and forget about what anybody else thinks. 8)

Thanks. Thermostats are on my off-season maintenance list, so I'll see if that's applicable then.

    Grady Seafarer as Tow Boat

I just signed up with those guys for the first season in a new / old boat. Two motors, but single fuel system, no rope starting the 4 strokes (why?), and no kicker. Cheap insurance! It's a regular run for me. The inside passage through Swinomish Slough takes you through the town of La Conner -...

These new loop propellers look amazing...

Yeah, I watched that too when they were first announced. They say that they save gas money at all speeds, but they would say that, wouldn't they? I still think they look really cool...

These new loop propellers look amazing...

Anyone try one of these yet? I'm not sure they're even really available, but they look incredible. I remember being scared off by the price a while back, but now they are accepting orders. They're still 4x the cost of a standard steel prop... https://www.sharrowmarine.com/

    Finally!!

I feel ya. I prefer not to think about how much I have spent per pound on spot prawns since I invested in that gear 2 years ago. But boy, they're GOOD!

    Head Zincs

This isn't bad - not sure what I was worried about, but thanks again for the help. 15 minutes in and I'm done with the first bank - 6 more zincs to go. They actually look OK to me - not sure this was necessary after all... 8^)

    Seafarer 228 Handling Advice

I often found myself running my 226 on my 10hp 4-stroke kicker when in a harbor, at the fuel dock, etc. It would turn on a dime, and was much easier to run slowly, idle around while waiting, etc. The single big 2-stroke was less nimble. FWIW.

    Wash down not working

I am wild guessing because there isn’t very much information. Is your valve stuck closed? If there’s no power then that should be a fairly straightforward issue.

    charging 2nd battery question

Mostly they all are always fine, and that's how I treat them too. My new boat with twin F225 is the first one that in a dead battery situation I won't be able to pull out the starter rope and be fired up in 30 seconds. That leaves me with an uneasly feeling...

    Wash down not working

Raw water? Which one are you talking about? Pictures of washdown outlet and the failed "original" connection point would help a lot. No motor sound means either no power to pump or it is already under full pressure.

    Update on 272 Restoration...

So, while I wait for my shiny new marine grade capable sewing machine to arrive via UPS (and the weather to turn decent!), I started my rocket launcher. It's in its infancy - haven't cleaned up or polished the welds at all. My thought was to put two poles behind each seat and leave the middle...

    Head Zincs

Now I'm getting fired up! I can do this! I just KNOW I can! And doggone it, people like me! :) I still won't break my cardinal rule preventing tearing into a project before the replacement parts show up though. Not going to happen. I have learned that one the hard way at least once -...

    What size Motor is reasonable

" I had a boat that size and took 5 people out and pulled a skier with a 70 HP " I don't think you could even get me up on a slalom ski with a 70 by yourself. Our 16' couldn't...
