Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

I think you might benefit from reconnecting with Ken. Seems like others have gone back to him after the initial prop attempt to get the desired result.

    Newbie Question

I think you are overthinking the listing. I think it’s the batteries and the captain standing on the starboard when on board. In your earlier message you said 4-5” lower on the starboard. From this picture it looks like 1”. It’s not a bad thing to make sure your through hulls are sealed well...

What do people use to store stuff that can rust?

I think you just want to spray with wd40 periodically (or similar). Perhaps you can wrap a paper towel around some of your tools that are more at risk (if they still fit in your tool boxes with the paper towel) and then apply wd40. I’m not sure you want your tools full sealed in. I think...

    Trouble W/Panther Bracket on Overnighter

Post some pictures if you can. Many of the brackets will have more than 4 holes to allow for adjustment up or down. Is that the case with your bracket? have you installed yet?

    Bell Requirement for MA vessels

I’m speculating, but I think the issue is that the MA regs are poorly worded, and leave it subject to interpretation. The two sites I linked above are following the most conservative interpretation. If someone ever was cited under this rule, I think it would be pretty easy to appeal any fine...

    Bell Requirement for MA vessels

Interesting. Coast guard auxiliary site does say there needs to be a bell - and a whistle or horn. The language is a bit confusing in the requirement but now reading it again I see what you mean. https://wow.uscgaux.info/content.php?unit=013-11-02&category=ma-safety-checklist...

    Bell Requirement for MA vessels

Does your horn work? In Massachusetts, vessels of 26 feet or more in length are required to carry both a bell and a whistle or horn that are audible for at least one-half mile. This requirement applies to all motorboats of class 2 or 3, according to Mass. General Laws c.90B § 5.

    Help a GW Newbie - De-winterization

All good. I was just trying to explain the use of the fake a lake product and that it’s designed for a different type of water intake

    Help a GW Newbie - De-winterization

Fair enough Dennis, but in this case, the entire conversation is in regards to flushing the outboard. Do any 205s have a generator from the factory? Or do any GWs have direct drives? i appreciate that what i said was not ‘correct’ for all boats and all sizes and all uses, but I don’t think I...

    Anchor size for a 306 Bimini/Canyon

Right on. Most of the boating in my life has been in Buzzards bay (out of Rose Point in Wareham, hence the boat name…my sailboat is the Gusty Buzzard, anyways, now in S.F. - besides the point). Agree with your assessment overall.

Adding lock to Cooler/storage Compartments on 235 freedom

Should you go for it, check perko brand latches. You might find one similar to one you already have with a lock (same screw pattern for example). While I don’t disagree with the limited benefit, it might be just enough of a deterrent, if you have locks but your neighbor doesn’t. Or I guess...

Suggestions for an outboard motor for a 1978 "Duke 175"

I agree with 90hp being a realistic option for that boat. Cheaper and lighter. Take a look at tohatsu if you look new

    1978 GW center console issues

Agree with the above. You can get a vessel safety check done by coast guard auxiliary for free. That may be helpful once you have addressed some items and gotten the safety gear - flares, life preservers, working radio, horn and lights (if they don’t work can get battery powered radio and lights...
