    2006 228 Auxiliary Fuel Tank

I am using the Grady White dimensions just slightly narrower so I don't need to enlarge the opening in the deck. One less thing to do. Thanks.

    2006 228 Auxiliary Fuel Tank

I’m having an auxiliary fuel tank fabricated for my 228. Across the top of the space that the tank will sit in is a PVC conduit that I assume carries wiring. Does this need to be removed to fit the tank? Thanks

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

    That makes sense. Thanks.

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

My question is can’t this stern lift be produced by trimming the motor or tabs. The fuel consumption will most probably be greater. In choppy conditions a prop with more bite will maintain speed and remain on the plane but a prop with less grip, the speed would drop and the boat would fall off...

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

Yes I understand that different props can produce different amounts of stern lift. You can also achieve as much stern lift as you want by trimming the motor under or using your tabs. So I’m not sure how stern lift by the propeller reduces the planing speed more than other methods. Just thinking...

Welcome. The Seafarer is a great boat. 226 or 228?

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

As I understand, it the planing speed is a function of the hull shape not the motor. Sharrow props can plane at lower rpm due to less prop slip but the planing speed remains the same. As others have said a prop with more “grip” (eg. 4 blade) might reduce the amount that the boat falls off the...

Does anyone make a thru hull plugs to replace thru hull fittings?

You’re not talking about blocking the scuppers I presume.

Broken anti-siphon valve on a Tournament 192, how do I get the pickup tube out?

I would cut the brass cube off and use the correct size six point socket on the nut. That will minimize the chance of slipping and rounding the nut off. I wouldn't use an adjustable wrench, especially as the nut is fairly thin.

1998 228 Seafarer anchor hatch latch

This is the latch on my 2006 228. It will secure the hatch more securely and last much longer than plastic. Search for twist lock door latch...

    pulpit

When I got my pulpit from Grady White 5200 was included in the mounting kit. That went under the pulpit. I think that may be the issue.

How to run engine in a bucket?

Yes 55 gallon plastic drum with my F250. The drum needs to become a bit oval shape to fit the leg in but works well. Cost $20 in Aussie money.

    Hardtop Mounted Outriggers

I had some brackets made to go around the hardtop tubing but a pair of stainless steel u-bolts would do the job.

    WTB Seafarer 226 or 228

With the 226 you have the much maligned transom bang cap and associated wet transoms. Unless length is an issue for storage etc, I don’t see any advantages of a 226 over a 228.
