I repowered my 94 27 Sailfish with the new Mercury V6 225's back in May. Cant say enough good things about these engines. Remarkable response to the throttles and an increase in fuel mileage from 1.0 to 1.5 mpg. And I think they look pretty sexy too.

Anybody made the switch from Bennett to Lenco? My are so old they don't hardly respond and when they do...it is too much of a response. How difficult is the swap? What all is involved? Thanks

Latest pics. 99% bad wood has been removed. Should finish up first of next week and then start laying in the Coosa board. Only one stringer needs to be replaced (center) and that will be all coosa board. Remaining stringers although are still plywood, the are strong and still incapsulated in...

I think they are a perfect fit for the older Grady's that were not designed for todays heavy fourstrokes. The perform great on the boat and I went from 1.0 mpg with the old 2strokes to 1.5-1.7 mpg with the new Mercs.

Originals were 200 hp. Added roughly 250 lbs to transom. Transom is about 2" thick. BTW...I installed the only engine Grady said would work on my boat.

Originals were 94 Yamaha 2strokes. Replaced with 21 Mercury 225 V6s.

I don't mind telling. Estimate is $5K plus about 1500.00 for engine removal and replace. Going back in with coosa board instead of wood.

It's been a slow process but engines have been removed and fiberglass guy is starting to remove parts and pieces. I guess the sawsall comes out next.

The rebuild your transom club...Noticed the transom cap moving back and forth about and inch last Wednesday while coming in on the ICW. Upon further inspection, it appears the transom is rotten. Just had the boat repowered in May and the service manager at Marshall's Marine in Georgetown, SC...

Had the pleasure of meeting a fellow GreatGrady member here in Myrtle Beach this past week. Just by coincidence, "Hooked On Grady" (Ken Larsen) booked us for a six hour charter on the 24th. The fishing wasn't great at all but the conversations were awesome. We discussed just about everything...

So getting around to repowering the Grady with some Mercury 225 Fourstrokes and was wondering what to do with the oil tank filler located on the stern? Any ideas???

Just purchased a pair of Mercury 225's Fourstrokes for my '94 27 sailfish. Pretty much the same hull as yours. They are not installed yet but per Grady White, they are the only 4 strokes on the market that wouldnt sink the scuppers. I'm replacing the original 200 yamaha two strokes.
