Cost for thorough cleaning and ceramic coating interior/exterior 1988 22' Seafarer Cuddy Cabin

So after a year of purchasing alot of polishers and compound here are my best results: 1) Makita rotary with the white wool 3m pad and the 3m heavy gel coat compound (not the car stuff with the red dye). 2) 3m yellow wool pad on the Makita with the 3m finesse it ii. 3) 3m marine wax...

Please help! Refurbishing old Tournament 192 and clueless

I would get the plastic thru hull fittings replaced #1. Get the transom checked for moisture #2. Inspect the gas tank #3. Watch some Drakes boat detailing videos #4. Drink less beer when responding to great Grady posts at 12 am like myself

Buying a used Grady White Tournament 192

As far as the rot issue in the transom take a look at fishtales thread on this issue. His marlin is like an 06 or 07. I think the problem is the aluminum cap on the transom corrodes and allows moisture in.

Buying a used Grady White Tournament 192

100 horsepower is way underpowered. My 19 tournament had a 175 2-smoke Johnson and topped out at 38 mph turning 5500 rpm. It’s been a while but I think it did about 28-30 mph at 3800-4000 rpm depending on conditions. I recall needing around 24 mph to stay on plane.

    polisher/buffer question

Drake says to use 900-1200 rpms with a rotary on a wool pad. I would agree as long as your machine can keep the rpms with some pressure. My harbor freight stalls too easy and produces a choppy uneven finish even though it will spin at 5k. Here’s the Makita rpm chart # 1 600 rpm, #2 900 rpm...

    new 4 stroke weights

Maybe you should put a couple hundred pounds of lead shot in the transom to see if the scuppers are still above the water line before you install the new motors.

    Best boat trailering stories

In honor of St Patrick’s day I have to share this story. Back in the early 90s on St Patrick’s day my dad was bringing his 22’ Boston whaler outrage up from ocean city Maryland back to Pennsylvania to trade it in on a 25 whaler. Halfway up the road north of Dover Delaware he got hit by a drunk...

    Anyone have a 272 Sailfish with F225s?

I would definitely have the exhaust scoped. Even with low hours they can be corroded. Ask fishtails. I think it’s like a 4K per motor fix.

    Buying a new polisher

So I was using my Makita this weekend and the power cord took a shit. I took the 3m wool pad off and moved it to the harbor freight. What a wast of time! The hf just stalls out way to easy when applying pressure. It produced a very uneven choppy finish. So the Makita sports a custom deluxe...

    Buying a new polisher

A couple pictures of my dads boat on Saturday. We used the 3m heavy cut compound with a wool pad. Followed up with finesse it 2 on the flex with a lake county orange pad. We finished off with 3m marine wax.
