    Tarp Damaged Gelcoat, Help!

Bummer for sure. X2 on what Ono posted. Spectrum (or from dealer) gelcoat repair four your hull year for the deep nicks. Also agree that wet sanding will take down the minor stuff. Start with 800 grit to see if that will do it, then 1000 grit followed by compound, etc. If it is only the spot...

    Dry Storage Wilmington NC

Southport Marina also has dry storage. Southport is 30 minutes from Wilmington. I like it because it is at the mouth of the cape fear, right where oak island and bald head island are located. Great fishing and cruising in the area, lots of artificial reefs to fish. You can explore bald head...

    Substitute for seastart steering fluid?

That stuff is outrageous. But I have always bit the bullet and paid for the seastar brand. Luckily, I have only purchased 2 quarts in my time boating. Never really had helm issues. I too would like to know if there is a tried and true alternative that is half the price.

    Grease Trailer Ball?

I have never greased the ball. When I first got my boat used, the hitch did not want to pop off the ball. Had to jump on the bumper, etc. Thought about greasing it, but never did. The problem went away after some use.

    Would you rent your boat?

Shoot, I don't even let family borrow my boat. No way. Wouldn't lend it to my in-laws. Just too many things can go wrong. Running aground, docking, etc. The thought of renting also scares me. And also consider the liability. Nope. Not for me.

    Boat purchase help

X2 on the transom and fuel tank. Would check those 2 items carefully - outboard too for that matter. The 192 Tournament is a great boat. 5k does not seem to be a bad price. I picked up my 1994 Tournament for 8k. You may want to consider a 1994 model or later. Grady changed the transom in...

Overnighter gas tank removal, anyone know the trick?

Just a thought. What about starting the siphon, then running it straight out the back of the boat through a scupper. Actually have the hose run through the scupper, then into a bucket on the ground. Avoid going up and over. May need someone to help get it going, but it might be worth a shot...

Sunday launch day pics..and this winters modifications list

Re: Sunday launch day pics Very nice! :) looks like she got some fresh bottom paint. I also like the paint work you did to the floor of the cockpit. I can tell you take care of your Grady. I have also been doing many projects and will hopefully splash her on April 18 (beach trip for kids...

Thanks for the link Roberth. Will be getting a tub of this stuff for sure. Especially for the thru hulls and their hoses. Never knew this existed. Amazing stuff.

Looking at buying 97' 232 gulfstream. Advice??

I would suggest getting the survey as mentioned above, then you will know for sure if the boat has issues that would make it too costly to deal with. Peace of mind. Regarding the Evinrude Oceanpro, I wouldn't say its at the end of it's life just because of its age. Those engines are...

    A Must For Your Boat

What is the name of the product? I have been trying to play the YouTube link for several days and can't get it to play. Must be my iPad. Anyway, the name would be helpful so I can google search it. Thanks!

Exudedude, The stripes for your boat you can still obtain from a Grady White dealer. Just call one. The decals for Grady can be obtained from numerous Internet sources. I replaced mine (1994 Grady Tournament) with a set from garzonstudio.com. I was very pleased with their work. They will...

Looking for material to replace your dash panels?

Many thanks for the input and photos! I never thought about an overlay. Interesting idea. I will not need switches and gauges, since I will reinstall those - my gauges are 1 season old. So, I may go the route of having a panel made for my specs. If I could get it done for 100 bucks, I think...

    Steering wheel removal?

I was too afraid to go hitting on the shaft or prying. I opted for the wheel puller from Autozone since it was very inexpensive. Part of what prompted me to get the puller was fear that I would damage something by trying to force the wheel off. With my luck, I would have screwed something up...

    Steering wheel removal?

Good deal, Byron. I too thought of a new helm until I looked at the prices. Ouch! I ended up sanding mine down to the aluminum, then priming with self etching primer, then several coats of black automotive paint (a matte finish so it's not too shinny). It looks brand new. The one leaking...

Looking for material to replace your dash panels?

Can I hijack the thread? So, there have been interesting comments on the duratrim and it's durability, etc.... I have a 1994 Tournament, so I have the duratrim. Unfortunately, the instrument panel looks faded in areas and I have even used Penetrol to revive it. While it works somewhat, I...

    Steering wheel removal?

Byron, Fortunately, I did not have to rebuild my Teleflex Sea Star helm. Mine was leaking from the front of the helm, just behind the steering wheel. In doing some Internet research, I discovered there is a quad o-ring in the front behind the steering wheel that tends to go bad over time. I...

X2 on what fishbust said. The Manual on the Grady website for your year will have a chart that provides this information. Good luck!
