    Boat Separation

Where are you located? Next year I will try to leave the 208 in the water a bit longer. The only wet system is the saltwater wash down, I don’t have a livewell or freshwater so I think I can leave her in with the motor down and the saltwater wash drained out. I just moved to a new Marina and...

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/electric-trolling-motor-for-adventure-208.6284/ A good thread here if you read thru notably location of batteries (2) in the storage compartments under the v-berth cushions. Of course the motor requirements differ for the heavier 228 vs 208 but freeboard/deck...

    Correct prop size

If you need a spare prop I have a Solas Rubex HR4 14.5x15. Different boat so different story but when I got my 208 with F200 I replaced the HR4 with a 14x14 Powertech SCE4 from Ken/Prop Gods. I am happy with the outcome. The solas is in perfect condition, no nicks or dings and has low hours...

    Boat Separation

Emptied her out and cleaned her up for the NJ winter hibernation on the hard at Key Harbor in Waretown. But not before a few nice stripers today from the fall run, however I forgot to take a pic as I was fishing alone.

    Price Guidance on a 1995 208 w/ f150 and MK trolling motor

Yeah agree with all that, buyer needs own diligence and docs to meet insurance requirements. The goal is to get folks to actually come and see a boat, a marketing tool that I would grab my interest. Granted it is a bit unconventional and at $1,000 it is too much. For $500 I would roll the...

    Price Guidance on a 1995 208 w/ f150 and MK trolling motor

I have a 208 in NJ. It’s a 2021 so not a comp for price but there is no reason to undersell. - sure a trailer is nice or need to have but a lot more people in NJ keep their boats in the water than other places. Just my observation….and dry-docked at the Marina for winter. A trailer is extra...

    2022 Freedom 235 electrical issues

Check your manual for fuse locations. On my 208 (MY2021) which may have a similar electric system layout, the manual indicates a 1.5amp fuse for the hydraulic trim tabs inline with the Yamaha Ignition Panel, on an ORANGE 22-gauge wire (thin wire, higher gauge numbers are thinner). This...

    2022 Freedom 235 electrical issues

Confirming that you ran the boat in the “both” position, shut down engine but did not shut off the battery switch and completely drained both batteries. Then tried to rescue the batteries, which is pretty dicey regardless of gel, AGM, or traditional wet and requires a good charger. Then replaced...

    Repower 330

Yes that would I have one car where that is possible and had another car (same manufacturer) where the ECU swap was recorded elsewhere.

    Repower 330

Interesting approach. Does the Yamaha engine retain information on updates and ECU re-flashes? The Nizpro tune would, I assume, void the engine warranty (both the power head and the lower unit). Most new cars these days it is very difficult to reflash or even substitute the ECU without an...

    Advice - Leaning towards a Tournament/Freedom 225

People standing not too comfortable or safe, and in a 225 nowhere to hold on to while standing. Bimini top not good for handholds. I just ordered a couple of high back bean bags for cruising days.

What do you do with your rods while trailering?

for sure that is just for transport and storage. As soon as the boat is boarded all those rods gotta go to the hardtop (if you have one) that’s 6 slots, plus the four in gunwale holders and four under the gunwale and remaining 4 2-pc can stay in the cabin. That’s a max capacity of 18 rods...

What do you do with your rods while trailering?

I have a 208 as well. Rod length is an issue in the cabin (one piece rods). I remove the anchor locker panel and there is enough room for 7ft rods to lay down with tips poking into the locker.

A few newb questions about batteries...

Ok. As I think about it, if they are wired in parallel when running on both, then when one starts going bad, it will be “supported” by the other and likely accelerating its demise. I was examining the config on my 208 recently which is a 2021 but similar battery layout and electronics loads...

A few newb questions about batteries...

I would go with quality AGM batteries, they are more tolerant of discharge, and generally more robust. I have not had great experience lately with the quality of batteries. I would use a Marine battery for sure hoping for a better build quality. While most batteries are made by relatively few...

A few newb questions about batteries...

It is odd that both batteries seem to be bad at once. No? For sure they are likely due for replacement but you may have a charging system problem. in my (automotive, not marine), a low voltage indicator with a running engine is a charging system issue. Not sure what gauge package you had but...
