At minimun change the oil in the engines even if it was changed in the fall. Oil builds up moisture and acid during the winter lay-up. If the Oil Filters were changed during winterization, they should be OK. Make sure the Fuel / Water Separators are new. If not, change those too. While you...
I have been on the tour twice and I agree with you...it is impressive. The best thing was to be able to climb in and out of a boat just like yours that is under construction so you can see where eveything is and how it is put together. I found it interesting that most of the employees had more...
Hey Coconut,
I would be really be interested in how successful you are at adding Air in the Helm. I thought about doing that on mine but couldn't really find a good place to run the duct work.
Let me know what you find.
Thanks
Don't know about the acid, but I would loosen the bottom screw on the lower unit and let out a little fluid. If it is nice and dark its OK. If its milky then there is water in the oil and it will freeze and could crack your lower units over the winter. Always check them.
Power Wash the best you can, then while they are still wet use a putty knife to scrape the rest of them off. If you wait until they are dry it's like scraping cement. Any last bit of residue will come off with a product called On and Off. Just be careful because this stuff will burn bare skin...
I have replaced mine several times and it "Ain't" easy. First you have to take up that last section of floor that includes the access door that is too small to get into. Remove the caulk and the 6-8 screws and it comes up pretty easily. Then you can get in far enough to get to the impellor...
There are a couple ways to do the A/C. Either disconnect the intake hose from the thru-hull (before the pump) and place the hose down into a gallon of pink stuff. Start the A/C and run until the pink stuff comes out of the other end. Or, use a Fake-a-Lake. They work great...
They are usually routed into or affixed to a part of the hull structure. They must be placed in a manner where it would be obvious if they were removed. I used 4" vinyl letters and then coated them 5 minute epoxy. They are on the one of the sister ribs that can be seen through the a rear access...
I have never removed any of my cushsions for the winter and certainly not the gunwhale pads. Everything will be fine. As far as the eisenglass just make sure it is cleaned with Plexus or another good product and leave it in place. Flitz is a good idea for the metal. And don't forget the...
Take a look here.... http://www.thehulltruth.com/shipyard-is ... hange.html
These are directions for the F200 but they are essentially the same. Ships Island was very helpful. The parts for one engine is about $50 and includes everything you need. Don't forget to order the grease for...
You guys do too much work. I have owned many boats over many years and I have never removed batteries over the winter - and I have never had a problem. I just put put on the battery charger while I'm doing my Spring commissioning. That's it.
I have done it this way too. The tanks are as empty as possible, over treat with Startron and add fresh fuel in the spring. Never had a problem. I also run it for about 20 hours in the spring and then change the fuel water separators.
