How much of a job is installing a threw hull transducer??

Hello gentlemen. I am in the market for a transducer for a garmin 740. The tech thought a Gradys hull might be to thick for a in hull transducer???? Currently have a raymarina for the late 90s and is acting poorly. What would you put in your boat???

My wide open is around 55 at 4700 rpm. But rarely have water to get it up there. I think the motors just drink gas after half throttle. I did go threw one of NC weight stations the boat and truck weight as it should. I am ok with the gas if you play you pay. But want the biggest bang for my buck.

Had same issue with 150 ocean runner .As Gradydriver described clogged jets. Ran cheap oil ot any more though. There is a utube that is helpful if you are do it yourself.
