    Which Seafarer to choose????

No way I would want someone else's unfinished project. But that's just me. I think your real question is, does a newer motor and trailer outweigh a ten year newer hull, with the new hull being SeaV2, and no trailer. Tough call. I like the idea of a newer motor and having a trailer.

    228G, Hardtop, F225 Performance?

Just took mine on a 500 mile roundtrip journey with four full sized (well, maybe over full sized) adults, full tanks, fish boxes full of beer/water/gatorade/ice/etc and a cabin full of gear through very rough water. We were very happy with the performance.

    Naples to the Keys

Thanks Magic. I doubt we'll head down to Key West. I've been there a bunch and I haven't really seen much of the other keys yet. Looe Key sounds great.

    Naples to the Keys

I'm going to be making a similar trip in the next two weeks. Some buddies and I are going on a "road trip" from Tampa to somewhere in the Keys. The goal of the trip is not so much to get to a specific destination as it is to stop at cool places along the way. The extremely tentative plan...

    226 Prop Walk and Listing

Mine lists to port just a bit at rest, but I also have larger batteries than normal and they are both on the port side (and I normally use the port fish boxes as coolers). Your prop has more pitch than most I've read about. Mine has 17 degrees. I wonder if the additional pitch might be...

1995 Seafarer 228 Fuel Burn reality check

Probably about right. My 2004 228 with F225 gets around 2.3 with a full load in easy seas.

how do i find my boats value?

The best way I know of finding out the value of a boat is to see what they are going for on Boat Trader or Yacht Trader. Take the asking price and subtract 10% or more. My policy is a "stated value" policy meaning that they will pay be the stated amount regardless of the actual value of the...

    225 Tournament Power recomendations

My 228 has the F225. The F225 is plenty of power. While I generally fall into the "more is better" category of guys, I think you'd be fine with the F225. I haven't been in a situation yet where I needed more power, and I routinely run with 8 people on board loaded down with coolers, canopies...

    Anyone relocate washdown pump?????

My washdown pump is set up just like Strikezone's (just replaced it last weekend). My batteries are also in that same area but more towards the centerline of the boat My fuel water separator and fuel bulb are on the starboard side. Jim, unless you've got a bunch of other stuff under the port...

What's the beef about Grady on that other boating forum

Why do ya'll keep taking SEF's bait? He stated his opinion on the first page and you are still arguing with him. To be honest, it is pretty entertaining. :)

What's the beef about Grady on that other boating forum

232, Southeast is right. There are many things Grady could do better and that Pursuit does better. I'm not a boat builder, but from what I understand Pursuit uses a higher quality resin (is it vinylester?) than Grady uses among other things. All that said, I love my boat.

    Seafarer Canvas Cover

That's the one I have. I have been very happy with it, but I'm not sure it would work for your situation. It relies on the straps being attached to the trailer to keep it tight. Probably wouldn't work in a rack.

Interior dome Light Switch- where to find replacement?

DigiKey had them for less than $10. Can't recall exactly how much or what the part number is right off hand. Let me check my receipts.

    Vista Top Hnts

It is probably so cold that things shrunk. Maybe take the top inside and let it warm up making it more pliable. I know when things get chilly here it is very hard to get my eisenglass (or whatever our curtains are made of) to fasten.

    Freshwater Tank Problem

I don't think they need to be primed. I know the one on my 228 didn't after I drained the tank for the same reason you did. Of course I may not have been as fastiduous as you since I'm in Tampa and the freeze was going to be short lived. And I didn't put any antifreeze in either (not that it...

    226 vs 228

Doc, you're welcome to sea trial my boat whenever you want. In fact, the weather has been so bad recently it might be a great time to do a rough water trial. I'm just a bit over an hour south of you. I'm on Davis Island near downtown Tampa.

    226 vs 228

I really like having the livewell in the center of the transom on the 228. Even if you don't fish it makes a great extra cooler.

    Moving batteries on a 222

AGM's are no problem with Yamahas. AGM's have the same charging reguirements as wet cells. For the 225 Yamaha recommends 512 CCA, 665 MCA, 182 minutes of reserve capacity and a 100-120 amp hour rating. I have the Sears Platinum AGM's which are rebadged Odyseys. Great batteries with a great...

Transom mount or Thru hull mount for 226 Seafarer

Mine is transom mounted and I haven't had any issues. I also keep my boat on a trailer. I think the only way the transducer would get broken would be if the trailer was set up wrong.

    Source for Apollo Valves?

I was just thinking. Since the only thing the lever nut does is keep the lever from falling off, why couldn't I just drill a small hole through the stem and use a cotter pin instead of the nut? Then it wouldn't matter that the stem is stripped. The stem has two flat sides and is reasonably...
