Hull repair, paint & trailer adjustment questions

I know next to nothing about roller trailers, but is it possible to get narrower rollers for the front so that they are further inside of the lifting strakes? That might help with your centering problem. I know my forward center bunks on my trailer center me perfectly everytime. I would be...

    Garmin vs Lowrance vs Raymarine

Lowrance had a bunch of issues with a group of its older machine (the 33x line I believe). They are also not known for great customer service. What they are known for is great sonars. I have an LCX 26hd and absolutely love it. I don't spend a lot of time tinkering with it as I'm more of a turn...

    Towing weight for Seafarer 226

I keep meaning to get my rig weighed, but I always forget once I'm on the road to somewhere (probably because it never fails that I am running late to wherever I'm towing). But, I have been towing my 228 loaded "ready to fish" for several years with my F-150 and haven't had any trouble at all...

    Eagles

I think that if the Eagles had won home field advantage they would have stood a much better chance of winning the game against Cards. However, the better team won. I think that if the Cards hadn't taken their foot off the accelerator early in the second half (they don't really have much of a...

    Grady 306- Wet ?

I know nothing about the 306, but I just had to say that "the enclosure keeps you dry" is about the worst answer to a question about the "dryness" of a hull that a person could get. :) By that definition a submarine is dry too!!!! Sorry, I just found that funny..... :)

Battery - Deep Cycle or Starting?

Deka makes a great battery. IMO you are better off getting two starting batteries since it doesn't sound like you spend much time running equipment with the motor off. My Dekas finally gave up last year and I switched over to 2 AGM dual purpose.

    Seafarer wiper blade

Yes, it is a truck blade (like semi truck not pick up truck). I got a set from Ryder last year. Much cheaper than going through Grady White as I recall. I'll see if I can find the receipt and give you the exact part number.

    Accuracy of Yamaha FMS?

Mine has been very accurate. And. much to my dismay, my mpg don't come even close to the specs shown on Grady's site.

Trailer Axles - leaf spring vs. torsion bar

Seasick, do you have to trim your motor all the way down for storage? Seems like trimming it up a few inches wouldn't hurt anything.

Trailer Axles - leaf spring vs. torsion bar

I think Catch22 pretty much nailed it. I really like my torsion trailer compared to the leaf spring trailer I had previously.

    Cover 228 Seafarer

Carver Covers is selling the same cover as coversearch and boatcoversdirect, but there is no way to tell from the site what they are charging. Coversearch and boatcoversdirect are within about $5 of each other ($633 and $638 for the 26'6" version). I notice that they now sell the cover in a...

    Cover 228 Seafarer

I have the same cover as JiminGA but I got mine from coversdirect. I got the 26 foot version so it would cover the engine too. That allows me to use the engine trim to tighten it up without needing a pole system.

    228g position on Venture Trailer

I'm afraid I can't help too much since I have a bunk trailer, but it does look like moving the rollers towards the center is a good idea. The front of the boat seems to be sitting very low on the trailer. Just out of curiosity, does the name 5400/23 indicate that the trailer is only designed...

    towing question

I don't think you can go wrong with either brand. And that's a great deal pricewise.

    towing question

Future, ignore the bumper. The 5000 and 9900 both apply to the receiver. If you are just dropping the trailer onto the ball which is connected to the receiver (like 99% of us do) you need to look at the weight carrying (5,000lbs). The receiver just happens to have the same weight carrying...

    towing question

You're absolutely right, Chris! I just went out and looked at the truck and that's what is printed right on the bumper (actually on the plastic cap on the bumper). I still think Future will need more capacity though. He'll be at 6,500 lbs.

    towing question

Harley, I think you may be wrong about the bumper rating. Future, check on the tow hitch itself. It should have it's capacities listed. Just FYI, I have a 2003 F150 SuperCrew with the 4.6 and limited slip. It has been hauling my 228 just fine for two years. I just got back from a round trip...

    Seafarer 226 versus 228

I love the setup of the 228 with the live well centered on the stern. I also have two small kids small kids so the wife really likes the full transom to keep the kids where they are supposed to be. Trimming the motor up greatly improves handling in reverse. Otherwise the prop wash just...

    Looking for some Propellor Help

I just looked at the pictures again. Are you trimming them up at all once you are on plane? They look like they are in full "down" mode.
