Looking for older Adventure 208 comparison

My '95 is carpeted with the same carpet that lines the cuddy cabin.

    Portable bait well advice please

Rick, yep that’s a schoolie yellowfin. Here’s the best photo I have showing the intake (for some reason all my useful photos have fish in them ). The bait tank has its own dedicated thru-hull with a Rule 800 GPH centrifugal pump on it. But there shouldn’t be any reason you couldn’t Tee off of a...

    Portable bait well advice please

This is the setup we have using a Kodiak PF32. It will keep 10 lbs of sardines alive all day and longer. Intake hose comes from the thru-hull in the bilge and through the bulkhead in front of the splashwell. Overflow hose goes over the splashwell and out the transom notch.

    Adventure hatch problem

THanks, Dennis. The hatch itself is fine. There’s no bad core. The only damage is what’s shown in the photos above, and it doesn't extend past where the gelcoat is chipped. I may just apply the epoxy to the back side for strength and Spectrum color get coat to the front side, and with a little...

    Adventure hatch problem

I don't think you're wrong. It's not ideal, but I think it's the best way to get it to wick up into the exposed fibers. The good news is I have space on the back side to build up the thickness of the edge a little bit, so I may end up doing that, and the edge of the hatch is not load bearing, so...

    Adventure hatch problem

The edges are just glass, but the hatch where the non-skid is looks like it's cored. It about about 1 inch thick and very solid.

    Adventure hatch problem

I've got the Spectrum color on order... $40 is right, but $53 with tax and shipping :) . This will be my 2nd project using it. The first was fixing some blistering in the bow pulpit many years ago. The exposed fibers you see aren't solid, it's broken up and flexible. That's what happens when you...

    Adventure hatch problem

Sounds familiar. This is my winter project... A little bit of epoxy and gelcoat work, and after looking at it, I'm planning on thinning out the epoxy to seal around the edge.

    208 Radar Arch Installation

While that’s not a bad idea, they’ve been on there 23 years with zero signs of stress, so I don’t think it’s really needed.

    208 Radar Arch Installation

Here it is. The superstructure is at least 1 inch thick plywood, maybe 1.5”. Whatever it is, it’s thick. The radar arch is thru-bolted with flat washers. Looks like low grade 18-8 stainless was used as they are looking a bit rusty after 23 years.

    208 Radar Arch Installation

It's been so long since I've had the side panels off, and I didn't do the original install, so I don't remember how ours is backed. But I'll pull a side panel off and take some photos when I get a chance.

    Thoughts on this transom mod?

Max horsepower rating doesn't actually take weight of the motor into consideration at all. It's strictly a calculation based on boat length and transom width. It's in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 33, section 183.53. For a 208, the formula is 2 * L * W - 90, where length and...

    Thoughts on this transom mod?

If that boat was ever listed for sale and I was in the market, I'd look at those pictures and run away as fast and as far as I could. If that kludge is the solution for something as important as keeping the motor attached to the boat and keeping the water out of the boat, I don't even want to...

Trailer Winch strap Orientation on 208 Adventurer?

    Adventure 208 motorwell mods

Mine is in the same configuration as yours, but it's held in place with Perko 0559DP door catches (I just had to replace them both since they finally snapped off after 25 years). The top pieces of the dam have been in one of the forward storage areas under the V-berth ever since I bought the...

2020 208 Bimini boot "snap fast" not holding

The tie down is useful. The bimini will float up 10-12 inches or so and slam back down if you're pushing through the ocean chop. I learned that the one time I hadn't latched it down, though my latches are below the bimini boot, so it can't float up at all.

    seacocks

Yep, as part of my standard washdown procedure after pulling out of the saltwater, I fill up the livewells with fresh water and backflow the pumps and seacocks and let the water drain out through the thru-hulls. It works well because the 2 raw water livewell pumps are centrifugal types, so water...

    1999 208 adventure prop advice.

15x17 or 15.5x17 should get you close. I can’t remember if mine is 15 or 15.5 inch diameter.

The first one isn't really catching... more viewing... The rest are catches, not necessarily all on the Grady :-)
