Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

Check the max wire size for the trolling motor connector. You may need to drill out the back to accommodate 6 awg wire. I would no go to 4 awg. Given it's a 40 amp circuit 6 arg and the length are adequate. If you do decide to go to 4 awg you should do a short 6awg pigtail into the connector...

Rusty leak from gunwale in Freedom 235

Grab it with your hand and feel the stepped thickness. Wood under mine! This isn't the most structurally important part of the boat. Fill it with GitRot and get on with it.

Rusty leak from gunwale in Freedom 235

My corner bolster that wrapped around was a constant source of brown stain running down inside the boat. When I finally opened it up I found there was a wooden corner connecting the plastic side bolster backing. I fabricated a new corner piece with stainless piano wire and epoxy "plastic wood"...

    12v refrigerator

It would be helpful if you got there refrigerator make and model from the tag inside it. Also look for controls inside in the upper left next to the ice tray (put a photo up). If it's like mine there is a knob that you turn clockwise to set the cooling temp with. All the way counter-clockwise to...

All the wipers I have used on my 1997 Islander were pressed on to spline shaft.

    Window Wiper Spring

I'm assuming you were able to get the cover up over the wiper/shaft nut (for lack of a better term). The shaft is splined and the wiper presses on. Keep soaking in penetrating oil. Eventually you may need to cut a vertical slot with a Dremel tool and try to split it. That wiper arm is...

If they are the old “school bus” style blades Napa carries them. Only place I found. Windshield wiper blades. NAPA 60-1870 arm and blade. $9.99. Blade only 60-1805 $5.99. Trico 70-180 may work as well.

    Options to Protect Teak/Holly Floor

Poor solution to protect a teak-holly floor. Either protect it or refinish it you sell it. Remember your Grandmother's living room? The plastic over the carpets and covers on the sofa? It just doesn't work. Sand gets in. If you are willing to vacuum underneath every week it will work. I would...

    Options to Protect Teak/Holly Floor

Be careful with carpet with no passing/backing. It's abrasive and will destroy the wood finish. You can attach a non-skid to it with 3M contact cement from Home Depot. Still you need to vacuum under it often. I have a small about of carpet that I replaced this way.

    Another Grady Transom Issue

I doubt it's a reaction. Probably excess resin. The aluminum erosion is from water. Do not put acid on it. Wire brush or grinder to clean out. Sand it out clean, fill with glass cloth and epoxy resin. Re-sand and tidy up or use epoxy fairing compound. Re-install a bang cap with 3M 5200 or 4000...

How do I identify the fuses on my 2002 282 Sailfish?

Get the wire colors off from the GW owners manual and look at the fuse block. Mine isn't labeled either. Sometime you have to figure these things out on a 23 year old boat!

2011 306 Canyon: wood core in hull

You need to replace the transom on a 2011 306 Canyon? What's up? Replaced all my above water thru hulls a few years ago when I painted the hull. I don't remember the hull being that thick. It's possible the hull sides are cored to a point but I doubt the curved bow sections are. I'll check as...

    Best family / fishing boat

I have a 1997 268 Islander which is basically a narrow beam Sailfish. Twin F150 Yamaha's. It is the smallest GW made with an enclosed head. It is a cuddy cabin that I use primarily for fishing so the cabin is a big tackle box. The built in rod holders are great. Microwave removed and converted...

    Removing bulkhead cushion for repair

Most GW cushions are hung on metal brackets like a picture hanger. The bottom edge on the cushion is secured with screws or snaps. Run a plastic card tucked up under that edge to feel for the hardware.
