    Removable compartment trays/liners

My 228 has them. Good for storing lines but they get wet and fill with water when it rains.

Use Fresh Water System To Flush Outboard

Good idea but I just use a 2 way valve on my garden hose when I'm cleaning up at the end of the day. One side flushing the engine while I hose the boat with the other side keeps it flushing for at least a half hour.

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

Lots of great info but I think the answer is, each boat and conditions are a bit different so the only way to know is to keep a log and test the boat in a variety of conditions at different trim levels. I like to

Buying a new Canyon 336, options?

Thank you all for the input. Before ordering a new build the dealer has a 2020 with the 3 300's in stock so they're offering some extra incentives on. Not the color we want and missing the refrigerated fish box which can't be added later. We can add the rest including more rod holders on...

    Complete rewiring

I had a rodent get into the bilge of my old Whaler and it wreaked havoc until I flushed him out. I never did it but i was advised to stuff bronze wool in any possible opening and leave rat poison in the bilge over the winter.

    New Battery Config for 265

Amamola, In case this isn't clear, if you use an isolator to the House (either ACR or isolator harness), and connect the other battery directly to the alternator and only use it for starting and possibly bilge pumps, with the right switch configuration the only switching needed is on/off at the...

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

This is a great quote "It is becoming more apparent that I know less and need to learn more." One of my favorite sayings is very similar "The more I learn the less I know." I wish I had a photo of it but I built a cushioned bow platform on the Whaler and cut the bottom out of a 2 person dome...

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

I used to take my 30 year old BW Montauk with 20 year old engine 20NM out of Ocean City MD no problem. Pick your days, know your boat, and watch the weather. This is my first season in my 05 228, still learning the boat and getting the kinks out so I didn't run far offshore this year but...

    Rod holder vs cup holder

That rod/beer holder looks cool. Anybody know if it fits the standard size Grady cup holder?

    Enclosure thoughts

I also run at night and the way the bow rail reflects light it kills visibility. I just installed a high power LED bar light under my pulpit, the test fit was promising but didn't have a chance to use it on the water last weekend.

226/228 owners - do you pull the plug?

The only way I get any water out of mine is if I pull the plug when it's on the ramp, otherwise the water settles toward the bow. I keep a wrench in the console of my truck and it's the first and last thing I do after retrieving and before launching.

    2016/ 228 Seafarer 300 HP

I have an 05 228 with a cherry f225, I can plane at 15kts and comfortably cruise in the mid 20's with decent fuel economy but I'd slap a new f300 if I could.

Buying a new Canyon 336, options?

"An ethernet packet is an ethernet packet, doesn't matter what brand of gear put it on the wire" I spent the bulk of my professional career selling network test equipment so I know a thing or two, this is a bit out of my wheelhouse but I'm sure I can figure it out. The instrument panel on the...

Buying a new Canyon 336, options?

Luckydude I saw on one of the demos the Garmin could be networked with the digital Yamaha's, is that not the case with Simrad? We have the NSS Evo3 with the Airmar 1k on the Regulator and really like it but I'm not opposed to Garmin. I've been bugging my friend with a custom 58 to go Seakeeper...

    Enclosure thoughts

I'm also in the process of ordering a new enclosure for my 228 so rather than start a new subject I have a few related questions. Seems like every canvas shop has a different opinion on what to do with that front window, flexible U, no window, rigid fold in. I'm in the mid Atlantic region...

Buying a new Canyon 336, options?

A few weeks ago I saw an big Intrepid with Quad 7's and my eyes bugged a bit. His neighbor said the guy has had major issues with all 4 and spent most of the summer in the shop. I think I'm sold on the trip 300' but going to take a couple weeks to see what's out on the used market before...

    Keys for cabin?

I think they're the same and the other day I didn't have the key handy but was able to unlock it with the can opener on my Leatherman wave. I rarely lock it since if someone wants to break in they'll probably do more damage to the hatch and door than what they'd likely steal.

    NJ fishing reports

Wow, really early for the BF to be in that close and that must have been a blast. I usually snag and keep one out while trying for fluke and sea bass at the rocks or highlands reef but so far just blues and a stray bass here and there.

    NJ fishing reports

Great report and good job with the extra effort on the way in. I can reach the Haskell area on my brother's 24 Regulator but it's a long day trip out of Highlands at 24kts cruise and I don't have the range to safely make it to the Hudson. We usually make a couple offshore runs to the AP/ CC...
