    Fuel Guage Accuracy

I have a 98 268 Islander, and recently noticed that the fuel quantity reading is inaccurate. Although I have topped off the tank to almost overflowing, the guage reads about 1/2. It has one gas tank, and previosuly seemed to work fine. I cleaned the electrical connection at the tank sensor, no...

    Power Washing the Grady

Is there any precautions that should be taken before powerwashing the Grady this weekend? I plan on trying to clean up the walkarounds and bow areas before they get too dirty this summer. Looking for some advice.

    Dockside Power Question

I do have the refrierator, and would like to leave it on. Sounds like what I need to do is hook up shore power, turn off the invertor, and leave the house battery on supplying the frig, with the shore power running the battery charger keeping it charged as the frig draws from it. It is...

    Motor In or Out

Thanks all for the advice. Sounds like out is the way to go. Who needs all the headaches associated with leaving the motor down. Appreciate the advice about raising, locking with the transport bracket and retracting the cylinders as well. Thanks again.

    Dockside Power Question

My Islander has a single Yamaha 250, with two batteries, a starting, and a deep cycle. In addition it is wired for dockside power, and has an inverter, and a battery charger. When I dock and shut down, it the proper configuration for overnight - batteries off, inverter on, dockside power...

    Motor In or Out

I recently purchased my first boat, 1998 Islander, single Yama 250. As a rookie, the previous owner spent some time showing me the ropes. One thing he cautioned me on was to keep the motor out of the water when docked. He stated something about stray electricity potentially affected my Grady...

    Depth Finder Question

The transducer I found was starboard of the keel, on a flat that looks like it was designed for mounting, 3/4 of the way aft, visible through the battery comp. It powers up, but no depth indicated. I have not yet been able to locate the Furno transducer.

    Depth Finder Question

Thanks for the scoop, I still only find one transducer, so likely the Furuno is using it, and the Hummingbird is disconnected. This weekend I will pull the E box apart and spray connections with CRC, and reshoot wires. Thanks.

    Depth Finder Question

I have a Furuno depth finder on my 98 Islander, and the standrad Hummingbird in the dash. The depth finder works intermittantly, I need to disassemble the electronics box, seems like a loose connection. BUt my hummingbird does not power up at all. I shot the wires, and they seem to be ok. I only...

    Boat Lettering

I have a GW 268 Islander and am looking to apply a name to each side. The distance from the waterline to the stripe is approx 16 inches. I was looking for some advice on decal size. Do you think 8" lettering is too small?

I have a Furuno 1730 display and 1731 receiver unit not installed, that was given to me used when I purchased my boat. It is missing the power cable, and the data cable has the display end plug cut off. Any suggestions on how to slavage this unit? Can I purchase the power cable and plug and...

What model Grady White do you own?

Grady White 1998 Islander 268 Just picked up my first boat, a Grady White 1998 Islander 268. I picked it up in November here in CT, and kept it in the water until 15 December. Not too shabby. I'm a rookie boat owner, but everyone I have talked to tells me the GW is the best out there...
