Grady 360 Express Sharrow props anyone tried/happy?

There was a guy with a 36 GW something at a GW club event last year. He thought his trip sharrows were the cats meow, but I think he was a bit out of touch the cost/benefit of the purchase. As stated, you won't see performance benefit to make it worthwhile. What the owner bragged about was how...

    Generator for A/C

Interesting tech. This statement and the diagram that followed don't seem to align: 3. Place the generator such that the muffler faces towards the wind and the exhaust goes in the opposite direction of any nearby buildings or cars. Also it would seem that the generator would only shut down if...

    Generator for A/C

Dennis, I sincerely appreciate you posting this info. People need to be aware of the risks. Most of them can be minimized or eliminated if one understands the why behind them. If one doesn't, don't use a portable.

    Generator for A/C

Unless your AC has an excessively high start up current, I would think a 2kw unit will suffice. I would think the unit for a 272 would be a lot smaller than a 330 and requires a lot less juice. The portable generators aren't without their risks, but many of those risks can be minimized further...

    Generator for A/C

I'm sure any 2000W portable unit will work, but be sure to have CO detectors in your sleeping area. Be aware naysayers will tell you you could die of CO, electrocution, HIV, and fire - all at the same time because portable generators are so dangerous. ;)

Replacing the transom on my 275 Freedom: a photo story

Looks great. Hopefully that'll be the last transom fix for the life of the boat.

    Trailering a Marlin 300

Every year South Shore Marine in Ohio trailers a 300 to the boat show. I'm sure it won't be difficult for them to tell you.

    Grady 275 Freedom rolling issue

From my experience with a similar hull, you are trimming your engines too far down or in. Trim your engines up to around the ½ way part of the range after you are on plane. Take a look at your engines to make sure they are indeed trimmed per the gauges and not off kilter. From there you can add...

Grady vs Scout in the 27-28' range

Like many women, the lines of a popular brand of cruiser were the apple of my wife's boating eye. Then she spent a few hours on one. Between the lack of functionality and the performance in chop was enough for her to recognize GW is doing something right with their designs.

Grady vs Scout in the 27-28' range

I'd keep close tabs on your wife. There are plenty of men who would kill to hear their spouse utter those words! ;)

    Bottom blasted

Looking good. Glad I don't have to mess with that. Had a thought. Are you all closing off the intake vents on your engines? I sometimes wish marine engines had some type of filter for the occasional times nasty dust can make it's way in. For me when I'm trailering, I wonder what road grit is...

Good to know. Thanks for sharing. Now if only the weather would cooperate for me to get out! Possibly my latest start to the season EVER! :(

    New Freedom 275 Owner

The hulls for the 270/and 275 are the same. Your experience is a common complaint, but the good news is the fix is free. For lack of a better term, the "sweet" spot for stability on this hull is smaller and requires the right engine trim angle to keep it there. Trimming up is typically the...

Replacing the transom on my 275 Freedom: a photo story

It's been a while since I've torn out a few. I can't say for sure if 5200 was the solution from the factory. If done correctly, I think it can work well, but the set I tore out was far from correctly installed. The holes were drilled at an angle; the fittings were over flared and cracked; there...

Replacing the transom on my 275 Freedom: a photo story

I haven't done the homework to have a better suggestion. I just know there are too many installation and environmental variables that will often lead to a leak. It's a piss-poor method to make a drain that carried over from old-school boat building. The method should have gone away 30+ years ago.

Replacing the transom on my 275 Freedom: a photo story

What's the plan for the splashwell drains? Don't let them put those %#$@ flared fittings in there unless they drill, glass, and seal the holes 1st.

232 prop question I need some help!

Hopefully your "installer" is much better at rigging an engine than propping one. It isn't rocket surgery. Since your installer appears to be clueless, do yourself a favor and do a little reading about boat props. Prop pitch is determined by your desired max rpm, and your lower unit gear ratio...

    282 motor height

I don't have experience on the 282 but have experienced 1st hand that GW tends to bury props to make for a more 'robust' set-up at the sacrifice of efficiency and top speed. I think the trade off is typically worth it for most, but if you are the type of person that wants to get the most out of...
