    What should I do? Repower

Don't buy new if you don't plan to keep it. Used would be the best way to go, but if you don't know engines, you might be digging a deeper hole. This could be a good option...

    3 batteries to 2

Chris, did you ever pull the trigger on any of this? My old crusty DC batteries managed to make it thru the season - barely. I'm considering a new plan, but need some questions answered. The plan: Buy a new starting battery for the starboard engine. Port is new Buy a 125ah Lipo and isolate it...

    Non Grady member, guilt?

X2 One of my 1st thoughts was why Edgewater, but after looking at them closely and knowing seasick's knowledge, I'm not surprised.

    Non Grady member, guilt?

Congrats! My neighbor has the 24/25' model of the same vintage. They seem to be put together very well. At some point I will give up on the idea of overnights, and go with a DC, but likely a cat. The stability, ride, and deep head compartment are appealing.

...unless you tell us what you bought! :) GG is not GG without a seasick! I vote to let you stay - after you provide photo evidence and details of what you bought. ;)

    1995 Islander 268 re-power

There will be a noticeable difference from a 300 hp single to a collective 300 HP in twins. Collective engine displacement will be a major contributor - 4.2 liters for a single vs 5.4-6 liters for twins depending on and assuming 4 cylinder models. That much displacement makes a big difference...

Gulf of Mexico Big Bend in a Marlin 300

IMO no, it is not too aggressive, but it is all relative. People have gone much further with much less. If this is your 1st voyage beyond a day trip, then I would say it is a bad idea. I would 1st try a 2-3 day trip to work out the bugs and rethink your priorities and expectations. After doing...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

I'll be picking one up this week! On sale at WM.

Looked at a 33 express, many issues.

Holy depreciation Batman! Damn. I've got slightly more in our 270 than a new 330 buyer has paid in tax! And that's with new engines, electronics, trailer, canvas and more. It never gets old when someone who doesn't know Gradys asks "is that new?" OP, if you are resourceful, motivated...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

She likes the scenery, so being up on the bow is preferable. That and typically the kids and dog are out back causing a ruckus. For what I need, I don't think custom upholstered bow cushion really benefits anyone other than the upholstery shop. I saw the bean bag at WM today. I think we will...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

Have you tried them on the bow? You have a marlin, correct?

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

Agreed, storing on or off the boat will be one more thing I'll have to deal with. However, the plan would be .to only have it aboard when she goes out and on days where she would have a chance to use it. Happy wife - happy life!;)

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

My wife loves to lay-out and soak up the sun. Aft deck is too low and she can't get enough air on hot days. I'm wondering if anyone has had luck with a marine bean bag placed in the walk around between the anchor locker and cabin? I'm thinking of checking out what West marine has at the store...

Which 0X66 is the good 0X66?

A 250 ox66 is plenty of power for that hull. Ours was a 248 with a 225 ox66. Power was never an issue.

Which 0X66 is the good 0X66?

I won't go into detail, but there were a number of things I did to get my ox66 dialed in. The linkage rod was one of them. Sold the boat to my Dad's buddy. Still going strong! Dennis, Techron Marine is a different product than Techron. If I had to guess it is likely more concentrated than...

Which 0X66 is the good 0X66?

It has been a few years, but I think I bought the blend. Prior to using Techron, I used Startron. After 2 seasons plugs were consistently carboned and gooie. Once I changed to Techron marine, the difference was remarkable. Despite trolling, I could run plugs indefinitely. When I pulled them...

    Hull stripe

Good to know. There definitely is some technique to the method. Being a weekend warrior, I had it down by the last 2' of 10! Better lighting in my dimly lit garage would have helped as well.

Which 0X66 is the good 0X66?

No. Our 1999 225 did not. I tracked hours with self powered hour meter under the cowling. As for ox66 oil, Penzoil marine 2 cycle was low cost, low smoke, low carbon deposits and readily available from Wally World.
