    Dome light upgrade

Yes, it does seem like the light is glued tothe ceiling. I removed two smll mounting screws, but the light is still firmly attached to the ceiling. That's why I asking about how you removed yours. Mineis on a 2008 Sailfish. I'm going to check the wiring for the spreaders, as I think that is...

    Dome light upgrade

Hookup, how did you remove the dome light from the ceiling? I can't figure out how to remove the fixture. My spreaders have stopped working and I think it may be the switch. Previously, they worked intermittently. I'm going to check the wiring, but am curious as to how to remove the light...

    How To Winterize AC System?

Once I had good advice and the right tools it was a piece of cake! Thanks for your info!

    How To Winterize AC System?

Got back to completing the winterization today. Bought a Drill Pump "Kit" at HD for $20 and it worked great. The hose attachment that comes with the pump fits perfectly and snuggly (as in no leaks!) into the thru hull fitting for the AC discharge. Put the intake end of the pump into a gallon...

    How To Winterize AC System?

I plan to use a hose with a tepered rubber stopper on it. Hopefully that will seal the drain hole and all the antifreeze will get pushed out the thru hull in the stern. I am traveling for a week so will post updates after I return.

    How To Winterize AC System?

So I was able to open the strainer and fill it with antifreeze, but it stopped pumping out the side. I think I have a blockage in the pump or it got air locked. Next step is the reverse flush. I can buy a drill pump for $12 so not a big expense.

    How To Winterize AC System?

Dennis, you're proposing a reverse flush. I like the simplicity of it, will the flush get through whatever pump is in the middle?

    How To Winterize AC System?

I have been winterizing my boat the last few days, and now need to address the AC/Heat system. Unfortunately, I am clueless on how to do this. I believe this is a self-contained system, and water is drawn in through a seacock. But how do I flush it out, or circulate antifreeze through it...

    Advice on a 282 Sailfish

I accessed the macerator through the mid berth hatch. You only need to remove the two mounting screws on the bow side of the mounting bracket. the stern slide slips under the screws that hold the other "thing" that is on top of the holding tank. Attached are a couple of pics to show you what...

    Advice on a 282 Sailfish

I replaced the macerator pump on my 2008 Sailfish earlier this year. The macerator sits on top of the holding tank. It's a bit of a reach to get the mounting screws and hoses, but doable. Luckily I have long arms. The pump is readily availble at boat stores. I also had to replace the hand...

Chesapeake 290 in Norfolk - anyone know her?

Don't know amything about this boat, other than it looks very nice! Also looks a bit overpriced. I bought a 2008 282 Sailfish in April 2022, with Yamaha 250s with 650 hours and well equipped electronics, for $85K. For one year newer and one more foot of length, not sure its worth the extra...

    Topsail NC Offshore 10/20

That looks like a great day on a flat ocean, a rarity! What year is your Sailfish? I have a 2008 282.

    Advice on a 282 Sailfish

So I have a 2008 282 Sailfish that I bought this year. Love the boat, its been great and I feel VERY comfortable on it in the ocean. I bought the boat for fishing and some day trips or sandbars, and it is built for that! The cruising part, maybe not so much. I noticed you only received one...

    NJ fishing reports

Skunk, those are some great fish! Can I ask you what type of lure or bait you were using? We had bunker all over the place off our beach (Barnegat Light) yeterday and today, along with dolphin and a whale further out (I could only see its spout). I tried surf casting with poppers, yo-zuri...

Windshield Wiper Doesn't Work - Switch or Motor?

Took my volt meter to the boat to test the circuit. Initially the wiper did not work. But after jamming my test leads into the connectors a few times, viola, the wiper started to work! Can't say I fixed anything, but it does show the wiper motor is OK. We'll see how long it continues to...

    NJ fishing reports

I was at the Garden State North reef yesterday and was on top of all sorts of black sea bass. Caught 6 keepers and probably tossed back another 12 shorts. Also caught two small blue fish and one tiny fluke, which were tossed back as well. Good to be out on the ocean again after the last week...

Windshield Wiper Doesn't Work - Switch or Motor?

Legend, that's my next step. Any idea which of the wires to use when I connect the volt meter? I could just try every combination. Seasick, the rocker switch does not change the wiper speed. Lower position turns on both port and starboard wipers. Upper position turns on Starboard only.
