    Garmin Panoptix PS70 Transducer

Anyone using the Garmin Panoptix PS70 Transducer on their GW boat? Been watching this scanning sonar evolution. Trying to figure out if the technology really works and if its worth the $5k.

2007 Yammie F150 chirping noise at idle?

I have 2006 F150's. Yamaha had a problem with the harmonic balancer. The gear was wearing and shedding plastic into sump. Potential self destruct. I was out of warranty but replaced them anyway. Motors have 2,500 hours on them now and run like new. Have a Yamaha tech check it out for you.

1995 Grady White 272 Sailfish "Floating Transom Cap" excessive movement

It's something I see with all older GW's (including mine). The bang caps leak and wood transom get's wet. Just because the transom is wet doesn't mean it is falling apart.

1995 Grady White 272 Sailfish "Floating Transom Cap" excessive movement

Get a good look below the rub rail. Put a picture up. Typically water gets into the transom from the bang cap. The freeze/thaw will cause the top of the transom to swell. In this photo you can see the fiberglass cracked. The corner was opened up to clean up the loose filler and repaired. That...

Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

Smart move. Lighter weight. The other consideration with the other batteries is that they would have to be AGM's. Regular batteries would out-gas and create an explosion hazard if they were mounted in a interior compartment.

Hatch Hinges - 265 Express (but probably common across a lot of models)

The stainless wire does work its way out of the piano hinge. It doesn't usually get lost. You can push it bac k in. You can order stainless rod from McMaster Carr (probably 1/16") Maybe get hobby wire from K&S. Use a little Loctite blue to keep in place.

    Bait Cutting Board

Sure. There is always play in the rod holder. Get over it and fish. Those bait boards never fit tight. What are you worried about?

20 year old varnish in tank 208

Where are you located? Maybe someone can get you a someone to polish that tank. But keep in mind a 25yo aluminum tank is about due abused or not.

No. Lined microwave box to make a tackle cabinet. Eliminated front windows and patched inside.

20 year old varnish in tank 208

If you are telling me this stuff is on the bottom of the tank then it is separate from the fuel on top. Are you adding ethanol fuel to a water contaminated tank? Then sure you are making more water in the bottom of the tank. It’s called phase separation. When you stop for a while it will drop...

Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

Did your receptacle accept the #4 wire you ran? It true that the receptacle/plug are only rated at x-amps. Because of the length of the wire runs they are upsized. Nothing wrong with getting maximum copper contact on the terminal inside the receptacle. But you have to work at it.

    Islander ceiling upholstery.

Google Marine Headliner material. Foam backed is what GW used. Get something with some stretch to conform to all the curves. 3M spay contact cement adhesive from Home Depot - regular or heavy - either one. Messy job. the reason the headliner is coming down is the foam backing has broken down...

Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

I just finished replacing the Hubble rec receptacle for the dredge reels on the tournament boat. Two new Lingren-Pittman 24-volt reels. Existing wire is #4 gauge. Difficult connection to make to receptacle. You may have same problem with trolling motor connector. The Hubble HBL328DCR receptacle...

    Window Thickness

As said look at the frame or other side. Probably 1/4". Glass guy I spoke to and canvas companies have been using acrylic instead of polycarbonate. Acrylic won't yellow as fast from UV damage. Acrylic can be heat formed as well. But its not as "bulletproof".

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

Did you drop any pitch when you changed? Some guys won't do it because they think they will loose top end. If props loaded wrong it can be significant improvement. Ken ran my numbers and recommended 4-blade props, 2" less pitch and slightly smaller diameter. Complete game changer. Boat as a 10...

Have you tried 4-blade props? Worked for mine.

20 year old varnish in tank 208

Cutting the pickup is a really "bad" half-arsed "solution". I told you it would be difficult to get all the crud/water out. Running the boat gets it in suspension and its gets picked up by the filters. You can't wait until the engine stalls. You have to be prepared to stop, dump the filter and...
