    Yamaha kicker update

I owned a F6 for the last 15 years or so and can't remember how many times I tore that carb down. I just put a F9.9 on my seafarer and the major must have was electric start so I can just grind through it when it starts having issues.

    New enclosure for my 228

Finally saw the new enclosure last weekend, looks great. A few pics starting from the inside with the sides and fronts down, sides up, all up. It was calm all weekend on the lower Chesapeake but AM temp was about 50 warming to the mid 60's, gotta say it was really nice to have.

    LED spreader lights recommendations

Yes, I angled it so it's facing down at idle speed and it lifts up to be horizontal when I'm on plane. It looks like the switch they provide has some sort of voltage regulator in line, I didn't have time to figure it out so for now I just connected their harness to a 12v source and left their...

    LED spreader lights recommendations

Here's the pic of the LED bar mounted under the pulpit of my 228. Note I had to reverse the feet so I made a template to make sure I drilled the holes correctly.

I'm out on the boat tonight so here's a pic in action. Much better if I take the anchor out of the pulpit. I'll snap some pics of the install tomorrow when I haul out.

Help educate mechanically challenged kicker buyer

I put the T9.9 high thrust on my 228. I get just over 6kts in calm conditions, love the electric start, runs smooth and hasn't skipped a beat.

    228 Kicker Placement

You'll get a lot of opinions but I installed my T9.9 to starboard. My batteries and swim platform were already to port so easier and better balance. It allows me to use my inboard hand to operate the tiller and my outboard hand free to hold a rod or a crab net. I'm not sure if this would be...

    Trolling Setup from Scratch

For outriggers it depends on a bunch of factors like how your boat is configured, how often you troll, if you trailer etc. My boat is a 228 with an aftermarket hardtop, I troll infrequently, and trailer so I installed Taco 280's with 20' Lee telescoping poles. The Lee poles are half the...

Seafarer 228 Garmin 8610xvs vs new Simrad Evo3s?

I'd be very interested to hear what the actual average draw is from a 1k transducer but I'll bet it's much less than even a 7" head unit (hope I don't eat those words...)

I think the 10" will fit but I won't be back to the boat for a couple weeks, I'll take a couple pics and respond with measurements. I would avoid putting it on the roof, I initially put it up there without screwing it in and the glare was bad. I just bought it with the intent of returning it...

    Trolling Setup from Scratch

Koaki, I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to accomplish or how you fish so it really depends. I fished out of Kona on a friend's 21' Whaler a couple times, he fished his bent 80's (penns) off the corners and we fought (and lost) a big marlin at the boat fighting it from the gunnel...

I saw that post which inspired me to install this one under my pulpit https://offbrandproducts.com/products/aurora-10-inch-marine-white-led-light-bar Very bright and no glare on the trails but I do need to take my anchor off the pulpit if I'm making a long run because i get some reflection...

    ProMariner 20-amp 3-bank charger

I don't understand this. Are you running your 12v pump and accessories and blowing fuses while you're charging at the dock or are you blowing fuses on your charger while you're at sea disconnected from AC? The latter wouldn't make sense unless you have a generator. Either way I don't think...

    New enclosure for my 228

Hookup, thanks and I'd be interested to see more photos of your setup. I don't have an electronics box so the two panels will flip in independently and I'm planning to make a storage bag for when I need to take them off. The installer said I'd have a problem with a one piece front because my...

    New enclosure for my 228

I have not run it yet or even seen it besides the pics they sent but looking forward to it. The sample they sent is very rigid so I can't imagine flex will be an issue but that's why it stops short of where the wind shield begins to bend around the corners. It took considerable force to bend...

    LED spreader lights recommendations

I don't have the bulb model handy but I replaced the bulbs of the step lights and the cabin dome this summer, it cost about$10 - $15 per bulb and was really easy. Get the bulb model and find a conversion chart to find a compatible bulb. The step lights do a good job lighting the deck but I...

What battery do you all like?

I don't have a major brand preference but I'm a big fan of dual purpose AGM. They weigh and cost more but for me they last twice as long as lead acid and no issues with maintaining water levels or explosive fumes.

Seafarer 228 Garmin 8610xvs vs new Simrad Evo3s?

I've been oogling over the flush mount photos but I really like that space behind for storing hats, cozies, sunglasses, flares etc... The only major concern I have with more and larger displays is I like to leave the FF on while fishing which can really draw down the batteries. One thing to...

    New enclosure for my 228

I just bought my 05 228 this spring, I don't think the roof and piping is factory installed and there is no elections box. I'm only 5' 8" so sitting or standing at the helm I'm mostly looking through the windshield at idle or cruise but being able to open it up for air and stand on a small...

    New enclosure for my 228

The hard panels are .060 Makrolon polycarbonate, it's clearer to some degree but the big difference is there is no distortion since it's a hard flat panel. The canvas shop said it's easier to maintain, more scratch resistant, and will last longer so we'll see. It was an expensive upgrade...
