    300 Marlen

Need to know more info. F250’s? Full of fuel? Sea state? Motors trimmed properly?

    Marlin questions

Can't hurt to drop the lower units and have a look at the exhaust as part of a survey. It will cost a little bit. For what it's worth, I have 2 2005 F225's and just had my exhaust done as preventative maintenance at 860 hours. They showed no corrosion at all. It's hard to get a good read on...

    Steering helm concern

Likely Sea Star. Is it hydraulic? Look for a small nut on top of the helm behind your wheel. Fluid goes in there, make sure it’s adequate.

Need to know what to expect - fiberglass work

I’m not an expert but: 1 I would consider filling the holes yourself with marine epoxy. Will be functional, maybe not cosmetically perfect but they should be relatively small screw holes. I’ve filled in old holes like this. It’s fine. 2 a good compound followed by waxing should take care of...

    Marlin questions

04 and up is essentially unchanged in the cabin to today. Different cushion fabric is all. Looks like you can be in an 04 for less than $70k. I do like my bow thruster quite a bit around the dock, but I came from a 20 footer so this is my first “big” boat.

    Marlin questions

On my 2005 generator is behind a hatch located behind the folding aft seat. It’s in an enclosure that is its own box. Also in this compartment is the fuel selector valves, so you will access this area fairly frequently to change tanks.

    Marlin questions

I have a Marlin with the diesel generator. It’s not exactly quiet, though in the cabin with the door shut it won’t be annoying. Might be for your neighbors though. That being said, in New England you won’t need to run the AC all night. I sleep on mine at the dock and don’t even run the AC...

    305 express or 300 marlin

I went through this 2 years ago. Wanted 305, but couldn’t find one. I’m happy with the Marlin though. More of a decision on the right boat at the right price in the best condition.

    Marlin Transom Cap Replacement

Second hole was original to this boat as far as I know. Original motors. I thought about leaving the cap off but figured it would show stress cracks in the gel coat as the motors were put back on and screwed in. Cap doesn’t look too bad.

    Marlin Transom Cap Replacement

Marina launched my boat this week. This spring I had them pull both motors off to replace the aluminum transom cap (Grady calls this the bang cap). I spoke to Grady customer service about the process and they gave me the part number for the new plastic cap they use. Ordered it from my local...

New (Used) Grady Marlin Owner, Hi!

I have the 225's as well. Despite what you may read elsewhere, I think the power is just fine. I comfortably cruise at 4800 rpms, 31 mph. The transom cap metal piece is a common point of corrosion. Mine is getting fixed this winter. The motors have to be pulled to do it so it's not a small...

Nice, what do you have for power?

    Marlin higher windshield

I am pretty sure 2007 is higher than 2004-6 as well. I don’t know about 2016.

    Grillin

I saw a used Marlin for sale with a Kenyon electric built in to where the bait prep sink was. Very slick setup. I would like to see how much that conversion was. Kenyon is a somewhat local comapny i believe. Official grill of the Pats or something.

New Helm Seat for 330 Express

I went with the Pompanette T2005 for my Marlin. No flip bolster but its a great seat. Ordered from Defender. You could get the new Grady seat from a dealer but it will cost you.

    Marlin TV install

The one option my Mariln didn't have was the TV. I ordered a 22" TV/DVD combo from Amazon and a locking arm mount designed for RVs. I had it installed this week and I think it turned out real nice. Wired into the DC side to watch underway without the generator. Doesn't take up much space either.

    Marlin fresh water system

Yes, I see what appears to be the drain fitting, but not the pressure relief valve. It wasn't leaking from the drain fitting, apparently I just don't know where the pressure relief valve is to tell that it was leaking from there. The marina is putting in a new fresh water pump tomorrow as I...

    Marlin fresh water system

Marina just called. They said it was the pressure relief valve and they closed it. Where is it located on the hot water tank? All I could see was the hose fitting for draining.

    Marlin fresh water system

Thanks I’ll have to look for a pressure release valve. It’s a tight space in there. Owners manual doesn’t say much. I’m guessing it’s something to do with winterization. On the positive I had just dumped a gallon of bilge cleaner in so I had to pump it anyways. And now the bilge is very clean.
