I had my dealer replace the cap on a 2001 180 - that was $1200 and on my current 2006 222 - that was $1800 Seems a bit high, but then again, maybe they are estimating some repair or shooting high to deliver under budget? Ask them to go over the quote with you.

I got them all out! Took the advice and soaked them for a couple of days...lots of "crud" on the bolts and washers. Going to get all new mounting hardware. Canvas is getting replaced as we speak (in Rockland).

Thank you all that commented on my question. Got all the screws out without snapping, breaking or stripping them! Soaked them in WD-40 over the past couple of days. When I go to put the antenna back on, going to use all new hardware and some good silicone.

Got 3 of the 4 acorn/regular nuts off. The last 2 are soaking in WD 40...I think I can get them. There is a grommet where the antenna wire goes through the T-Top and down into the electronics box - 3 small crews hold it in...that one will be interesting. I'm trying to soak it each day a...

DennisG01 - i'm taking your comment as a friendly jest :) BUT thats the point of this forum, ask questions, talk things through, is it not? I'll start with the wrench and phillips head on top with good downward pressure!

This is the underside of the vhf base. Going to soak it in PB Blaster...literally in a plastic bag.

This is a follow up from my T-Top Canvas replacement thread. I need to get the antenna base and wire unscrewed before I bring it to the shop. I am concerned about the screws holding the base of the antenna to the T-Top frame being frozen in place. Should I continuously soak them with PB...

Both of my Grady's have had port list (180 no trim tabs & 222 with trim tabs) the torque from the engine does impact how the boat rides...use your engine trim and your tabs (assuming you have them) or compensate for the list while underway! I'm assuming nothing is wrong with the boat, a lot...

Ok, so I got a couple quotes (3). One of the quotes I got was from the canvas shop I have used forever (I know the work, it's well regarded), it was the highest ($950 installed). Sunbrella navy canvas + materials + Time = $700-950

Not sure who made the canvas...I didn't even think to call them, should have been top of mind. I'll give Grady a call, I am the 3rd owner at this point :).

That looks great. When you installed it, was it a tight fit? I am worried that if I found the time to do it on my own, it would be somewhat sloppy and loose fitting....assuming its better with 2 people vs. 1 person doing it on their own? Since they used your old canvas top as a template...

Maybe I'm reading way to much into this for my untechnical self...but I had always thought Sunbrella with some kind of waterproofing spray treatment on it?! I do like reading about the different kinds of materials though, adds to my knowledge base, I guess.
