    Grady 340 Express Announced

Seakeeper has announced kits for filling in trim tab pockets on some boats. I believe a few Grady model are available or will be soon.. The kits include molded filler parts to enclose the trim pocket. That's kind of cool and make the refit a lot simpler. I found this link...

Need input on bottom paint please.

If you don't have any blisters after 34 years of service, you don't really need a barrier coat. If you do have blisters, you have to fix them before the barrier coat. It can be a involved job. So, assume no blisters. I recommend a primer coat and then anti-fouling coat. Select the primer and...

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

The tests I have read concentrated on lower speed applications and displacement hulls. For recreational planing hulls, I haven't seem a lot of documented tests. When I see pictures of outboards raised up and propped with sharrows what comes to mind in the back of my head is 'steal me!'

    Tilt trim unit removal

When you take the rams apart, note what direction the ram seals face if they have a v shaped groove on one side. Some years do and some don't.

Sea Keeper Sea Ride Anyone have it?

The boat is wet slipped and I had to haul it on a trailer to clean the actuators. Fortunately at my club, we have a ramp. Most of the assembly is composite fiberglass. SK states not to paint the metal parts that make up the blade and blade edge. The rest of the assembly should be anti fouled. I...

    One battery bank not charging

In your photo you show a green wire connected to one of the negative battery terminals. Where does that wire go? I ask because typically green wires are earth grounds and i don't think that earth ground should be connected to your batteries That ECLI breaker is both ground fault protection...

Sea Keeper Sea Ride Anyone have it?

I have the 450s on my other boat. I don't have a lot of experience but they do significantly improve the ride . My hull is 26 ft and the weight of everything is about 7200 lbs. I did and may still do have an issue with barnacles. I just redid the treatment with different primers and antifouling...

Anyone tried, or heard of, a sharrow prop on a 228?

If you have a displacement hull, what difference does it make if the article refers to getting on plane at lower revs?

    One battery bank not charging

Are you saying that only one battery is wired to the charger? I would think that if there is a breaker reset for the charger, both batteries would not be charged. Perhaps your house bank was not charging during normal running, not shore power maintenance charging. In that case I would suspect...

2005 Yamaha 250 four stroke water cooling question

all else aside, did it occur to you that if there were blockages in the exhaust cooling plumbing, the telltale stream pressure would be higher. Not that I think that is going on here but the fact that the stream runs like a race horse could be a bad sign:)

2005 Yamaha 250 four stroke water cooling question

Some boaters have cleaned the control trim switch and it resumed working. I am not sure if that is your issue since in the above case the switch acted up and would work some times if you played with it. In either case, checking the wiring to the control and wiggling things while you hold the...

Help me figure the AWG wire for my trolling motor

The fact that the receptacle doesn't accept the thicker gauge wires also means that it isn't rated for the max current carrying capacity that those wires could carry.. If 4G was needed to meet the requirements for current demands, let's say multiple loads, but an individual load would be...

20 year old varnish in tank 208

I dont know what 'pure' crap means. Was it water, ethanol, other gunk? Which filters get gunked up? Do not cut the pickup. That won't fix the issue and will limit how much usable gas you can have in the tank Remove the sender and use that opening to manually pump out from the bottom of the tank...

    One battery bank not charging

Often the in-line fuse isn't blown but the fuse holder has failed. That was common with certain models but I can't remember which ones. I had a Guest 2 bank 20A charger in one of my previous boats and the fuse holders in that one did go bad, fuses looked fine.
