    Got a 2003-2005 270 Islander?

It would seem most enclosures are now like yours. This is the 1st one Ive seen with the gasket. I suppose it might deflect some air, but I can't imagine it doing much more than that.

    Got a 2003-2005 270 Islander?

Finally got some photos, albeit not the best lighting. The view is much clearer than the flash might lead you to believe. I was also very happy it would go up without much of a fight in 45⁰ weather. All of my clear was replaced, 2 new front panels made, repairs where needed, and a helm cover...

    Got a 2003-2005 270 Islander?

When the weather warms up later in the week, I'll hang everything and provide photos. The canvas man talked me out of the semi-rigid material in the front. I ended up using 40 on the front and 30 everywhere else. I'm extremely happy with the results. He exceeded my expectations. I went from a...

Grady White 330 express- metal transom bracket rot

Small holes should be drilled in different locations of the transom to determine how far the water has propagated to determine if a full replacement is needed. There is an aluminum channel embedded at the top of the transom. Water and the preservatives are reacting with the aluminum creating the...

    3 batteries to 2

I appreciate the ideas and thought. I forgot about the frig. I never run it for fear of killing my batteries by accidentally leaving it on too long. Add that to the list. As the kids are getting out of the nest, my wife and I would like to use the boat on occasion for an overnight or 2, so...

    3 batteries to 2

Advantage: *Long term reliability - how much can I draw down without damage? *Power reserve health - my batteries started my engine just fine, but had little capacity beyond that. Exactly how much, who knows. When did it start to degrade? How often should I replace them? *Power reserve...

    3 batteries to 2

Chris, I wish you a speedy and full recovery. I've had some major work done over the years. No fun! The more I read, the less I am concerned about the dc-dc charger to prevent excessive current draw. The Suzuki manual states that excessive electronic draw can drain the battery while the engine...

    What should I do? Repower

Don't buy new if you don't plan to keep it. Used would be the best way to go, but if you don't know engines, you might be digging a deeper hole. This could be a good option...

    3 batteries to 2

Chris, did you ever pull the trigger on any of this? My old crusty DC batteries managed to make it thru the season - barely. I'm considering a new plan, but need some questions answered. The plan: Buy a new starting battery for the starboard engine. Port is new Buy a 125ah Lipo and isolate it...

    Non Grady member, guilt?

X2 One of my 1st thoughts was why Edgewater, but after looking at them closely and knowing seasick's knowledge, I'm not surprised.

    Non Grady member, guilt?

Congrats! My neighbor has the 24/25' model of the same vintage. They seem to be put together very well. At some point I will give up on the idea of overnights, and go with a DC, but likely a cat. The stability, ride, and deep head compartment are appealing.

    Non Grady member, guilt?

...unless you tell us what you bought! :) GG is not GG without a seasick! I vote to let you stay - after you provide photo evidence and details of what you bought. ;)

    1995 Islander 268 re-power

There will be a noticeable difference from a 300 hp single to a collective 300 HP in twins. Collective engine displacement will be a major contributor - 4.2 liters for a single vs 5.4-6 liters for twins depending on and assuming 4 cylinder models. That much displacement makes a big difference...

Gulf of Mexico Big Bend in a Marlin 300

IMO no, it is not too aggressive, but it is all relative. People have gone much further with much less. If this is your 1st voyage beyond a day trip, then I would say it is a bad idea. I would 1st try a 2-3 day trip to work out the bugs and rethink your priorities and expectations. After doing...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

I'll be picking one up this week! On sale at WM.

Looked at a 33 express, many issues.

Holy depreciation Batman! Damn. I've got slightly more in our 270 than a new 330 buyer has paid in tax! And that's with new engines, electronics, trailer, canvas and more. It never gets old when someone who doesn't know Gradys asks "is that new?" OP, if you are resourceful, motivated...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

She likes the scenery, so being up on the bow is preferable. That and typically the kids and dog are out back causing a ruckus. For what I need, I don't think custom upholstered bow cushion really benefits anyone other than the upholstery shop. I saw the bean bag at WM today. I think we will...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

Have you tried them on the bow? You have a marlin, correct?

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

Agreed, storing on or off the boat will be one more thing I'll have to deal with. However, the plan would be .to only have it aboard when she goes out and on days where she would have a chance to use it. Happy wife - happy life!;)
