    Which radar

Get the nmea bus heading sensor, I'm accurate to 3ft with that.

    228 offshore

Range is an issue, on those days I have 22 extra gallons in gas cans. Also, my buddy is a whiz at trimming thins for best mpg, We came in at 28mph getting 2.5-2.6 gpm. Regular miles, not nautical. The trics were engine trimmed all the way back, barely any tabs, and 3700rpm. And a very flat...

    Which radar

I have that radar and like it _now_. The original mount was done on my hardtop and it sucked. When I had my pilot house built, the guy doing it put a 6 inch pedestal up there and tilted it forward a bit. Much better, sees more stuff. I'd caution you that my radar, at least, does not see...

    228 offshore

We have been looking for tuna, not getting them yet. My 228 is not an offshore boat but we have been going. 73 mile run back to the harbor today, it can be done, pick your days.

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

Fish, I looked at Shockwave and I don't have the space for the captain chair, I'd have to mount it backwards and they said that would not be great. I am looking at them for the passenger chair at the helm, I take people out, they might like that. I'll report back when I have experience with...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

What sold me was the great loop story. Some dude installed these seats and took the record, previous record was 30-something days, he did it in 19. 19 days of 18 hour days, over 300 miles per day. And he was doing it because he had had cancer, saw kids fighting it, wanted to raise money for...

Moving menus around on Garmin autopilot display?

Where I had to mount it makes the buttons on the bottom not the best to access.

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

It is a SV2 hull. Still pounds.

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

I think the only way they fit the driver side is if I install backwards. That seat is slid all the way back. The passenger side can install normally I think. I have an email in to Shockwave asking if they have these installed on a 208, 228, or a 232. And if there is an issue with installing...

Moving menus around on Garmin autopilot display?

I have that little dedicated display for autopilot. It has the 10, 1, 1, 10 degree adjust menu on the bottom, is there a way to move that to the side or the top?

    1992 GW Seafarer Drain Plug

If you mean the plug that drains the bilge, my 2020 is 1/2 inch NPT. I do have bronze ones with wings on them, but I bought a handful of PVC ones just so I'd have spares. If you mean the drain in the fish boxes, I don't plug those so I dunno. Easy enough to get a caliper in there and measure...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

Zipwakes is just automatic trim tab adjustment, I've got that wired into my fingers by now, it would do nothing that I don't already do. Seakeeper Ride smells like snake oil to me, has anyone installed that on a 20-24 boat and had it work? Right now, I'm looking hard at Shockwave S5. Need to...

    DEK it flooring

I linked to an actual picture of what I installed, so the color is there. If I were to do it again, I'd go with a more neutral tan/brown color, the black gets hot. Not enough of an issue that I changed it out, it's fine. It catches little pieces of grass if I leave it on the driveway after...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

Coming back to this 4 years late (I started the thread). Wow, how much has changed but some things stay the same. What's changed: 9x12 trimtabs gone, replaced with 12x18. And I know how to use them, Magicbill, it's instinctive at this point. Makes a big difference. Hardtop is gone, custom...

    DEK it flooring

If you look here: https://marineflooring.net/gallery/ my 228 is the 8th picture. The product is sort of "spun" plastic, very cushy with a sticky (but not glued) bottom side. I did two pieces, a T shaped one that goes in the helm and the walkway between the helm seats, the other is more or less...

    New steering wheel

Me too, some insanely expensive knob but it is sooooo smooth. And like someone else said, I use the knob 90% of the time. But since I got auto pilot, steering wheel? What steering wheel? JK.

Hookup, not sure if you care, but I find this topic fascinating, I'm following along. Just a "rah rah, keep going please".

2017 or newer 208 - how do you like?

One other 208 note, the cockpit is 2 feet shorter than a 228, I believe they are identical hulls from 2 feet forward of the 228 transom to the bow, like I wouldn't be surprised if a 228 and a 208 hardtop were identical. Anyhoo, I looked at a 208 when I bought my 228. I think for 2 guys...
