    trailer set up

I probably just take a battery operated impact gun and move the stand all the way forward. Load the boat where you want it on the trailer then move the stand back to the boat, tighten the wench stand there. Assuming it’s a bunk trailer, not a roller.

    Bow Shade for 285 Freedom

I looked at these at the Charleston boat show. They’re a local company: https://laporteproducts.com/shop-boat-shades/ Their shade package was $750. Not sure if it will work for your boat, but I’ve bought a Console curtain from them and it was high quality.

    Pompanette Platinum Chair Adjustment Lever

Uneducated guess from reading their product literature…switch for the reclining backrest? It may be electric.

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

Ambitious project! Looks great and functional.

    First boat

Both. Ideally, assuming it’s used. First is a contract with the seller and likely a refundable deposit contingent on a survey by a marine surveyor and successful sea trial.

    First boat

I did a quick search on BoatTrader and that seems to be in the range of dealer asking prices, but too many unknown variables to give you a definitive answer. 200 hours is about average use for a boat used recreationally.

    First boat

No, I’ve owned quite a few. I have a short attention span when it comes to boats… This is my third Grady. As to ride, comfort in the bow at 30 mph depends on sea conditions, and as a new captain you should take things easy and learn techniques like quartering wakes, trimming the hull for best...

    First boat

I ordered a 215 last year. Delivered in early August, my hull is #807. Introduced in 2018, Grady has made quite a few 215’s and you should be able to find a nice used one. It’s a very comfortable boat for 6 adults without knocking knees. CG rating is 8 adults. SV2 Hull handles nicely in less...

Quick update on New York Boat Show

Heading to the Charleston boat show Saturday. I have a buddy that we try to go every year that drives down from Columbia. The show is decent size. Takes up all the convention center and about double that outside. Usually a good mix of boats and accessories.

    Grady 225 freedom

I had a 2015/2016 with a hardtop and there was enough headroom for me. I’m 6’3”. Iirc, did have to bend a bit for throttle adjustments.

    Fisher panda generator

Here’s a pic of FP dealers from FP’s website. Looks like there’s only 1 in NJ. Not sure if feasible for you, but when I needed a Panda gen serviced I found who had the service contract for our local Coast Guard station and ended up hiring a tech from them. Glad I did, as it was quite challenging...

Who makes the rocker switch covers?

New Wire is local to me. Had them do an entire dash panel and it turned out awesome. They can laser etch whatever you want on switch covers. Get the plastic tool to get them off the switch body, too.

    Yamaha new outboard

    New F350 from what I’ve read, but maybe not a V8. Wonder if they’re turbo/supercharging the 4.2l..

    Parts Vu?

Previously had good experience with them until I had to return a basic Yamaha oem part(non-electrical). They issued a rma #, I sent it back at my expense, then said it was non-returnable and shipped it back to me. Certainly an easy CC charge dispute but not worth my time. I’m sure they won’t...

    Engine trim with batteries off?

I installed a Noco Genius 5X2 on my current boat due to great performance on two previous boats. I got 5 years out of a pair of Interstate lead/acid batteries using a Noco charger and only swapped them out when I felt I was on borrowed time.
