How to inspect a Yamaha Outboard for mid-section exhaust corrosion?

Thanks for the pic guys. It looks like this area (below) is the area you would need a bending endoscope for. Mines not that long. Maybe I'll get an iphone one, they are cheap now. Endoscope camera for iphone: $35! https://amzn.to/38eiMxA

    265 X - flat panel dash

I'm thinking about making custom panels with a CNC machine I have access to. Wonder if there is enough business word of mouth? Would be a side business. Let us know What NEW Wire charges for lux matte. I see there site estimates $200 - $4000, quite a range!

How to inspect a Yamaha Outboard for mid-section exhaust corrosion?

Thanks for the reply seasick. I've done half of this when I bought it, had the entire motor on a pallet in my garage for 6 months with lower unit off. inspected with my Milwakie endocope, it's only 2' long. Didn't see those big corrostion marks "spots". The exhaust looked even black. But I...

How to inspect a Yamaha Outboard for mid-section exhaust corrosion?

Hi guys, anyone know How to inspect a Yamaha Outboard for mid-section exhaust corrosion? It's really common on early 225hp and some 250hps. I have one, they say it's been done but who knows. I know this is a common motor on many Grady's. Thanks

    Side spreader lights

I've seen them are hardcore fishing boats. Great to have that side light for hunting for a shrimp or crab pot in the evening too. Also docking leaving, entering etc. Lights are cheap these days!

    flush mount material

3/8" is ideal. I have 1/2" acrylic and it's overkill. Though it's stronger than starboard. The stock Grady clear covers are 1/4.

Then I cut a big hole in the deck

Well the cut out dimensions will vary by how ever big you want really. My hatch frame is 24x16". I can give you a template, but it is slightly smaller. but I do remember the distance between the supports Grady puts in is 27". I centered my 24" long hatch between that and the lower edge is even...

Cool looking new product from Garmin - Garmin GPSMAP 943xsv

Yup very confusing. Garmin makes the Striker Sounder only that has all the sounder bells and whistles for an affordable price. It has, DV, Chirp, Side View and comes in several sizes. I just upgrade from a Striker 5 DV to a Striker 7 Plus SV so now have Side View and a bigger screen, wifi and it...

Water tank. Makes a good seat while I sanded/wired/painted. I may enlarge the water tank at some point now that I have easy access.

Then I cut a big hole in the deck

For me it was very easy. I cut out the rigging tube, that only had one active wire and ran in around the front side of the space. Used plastic wire clamps so I can easily add wires in the future. No need for a rigging tube since I have a giant hatch instead. Anything you can dream of can...

Very nice. I've spent 3 days on mine w/ aggressive compound and it's not that shiny!. Are they wet sanding or using compound and a buffer?

Then I cut a big hole in the deck

It does flex a bit. I couldn't find a metal one actually, post a link if you know of one. Color match was important to me, that's why finding a hatch is tricky for Grady's. WHITE really stands out. I found in my case the hatch frame flex more than the hatch door so I was able to add a thicked...

Then I cut a big hole in the deck

I considered several sizes and even bought several hatches but went with a 16"x24" hatch so I can get bulky stuff down there and a Coastal liferaft like Omar's got. The fiberglass was very sharp and "stabby" down there so sanding painting white makes it nice. I still can put containers down...
