    208 Adventure Fresh Water Tank

Re: 208 Adventure Fresh Water Tank - Access Panel question I've done it. It's fairly simple. The hardest part was removing the old sealant. I resealed with GE Silicone II in the almond color which is a very close match to the Grady gelcoat color. The compartment the water tank would be in is...

New to me Grady 208 Adventure!!!! Couple ?'s

Welcome to the club. I've got the 1995 version of that motor. It's been very solid and reliable, though it's a bit thirstier than the newer technology. We've been very religious with Ring-Free and Yamalube, and at 1700 hours, so far, so good (knock on wood). The factory livewell under the port...

    oil problem on yamaha 175

FWIW, a lot of people have problems with the cap leaking on the oil tank under the cowling. We put a zip-tie around the cap to stop the leaking when the motor is tilted up for storage. It's not perfect, but we only get an ounce or two of oil that drips out over a few months.

Congrats. Sweet looking rig. First 208 I've seen with a tower. It looks great!

    Fuel Gauge

I ended up replacing the factory sending unit in my boat because the float would randomly get stuck at various positions so the gauge would read random levels of fuel. Eventually the magnet broke off the float so the gauge was always reading empty. I let it go like that for a few years because I...

How do I not overfill my tank?

Wrap a towel around the fill nozzle. I know this doesn't solve the issue, but it keeps the mess to a minimum. Every fuel dock on the water I've been to does this as standard procedure.

help: "sea towing" 282 behind mothership

For what it's worth, the one time I had to be towed in by Vessel Assist, the tow boat just hooked up to our bow eye and towed us in at 10 knots. It's probably obvious, but he asked us to lift the motor out of the water.

Where to put bait tank(livewell) on my 208?

Baja, We've got a Kodiak 32 gallon installed in about that location, but maybe slightly farther back than what you're describing. The trim ring for the fuel tank sending unit inspection port is slightly exposed in front of the tank. It's not plumbed all that cleanly, since the intake comes...

    Missing plastic fitting?

This is a guess, but does your cockpit deck drain into the splashwell? I'd start by checking to see where the hoses from your cockpit drains go. I'm not familiar enough with the 248 to know, but I do know there are boats that do drain the cockpit deck into the splashwell.

First day on the water w 208, cruise speed off ?

Does your GPS read mph or knots? Your numbers are similar to mine if they are in knots, but slow if mph.

First day on the water w 208, cruise speed off ?

The OP has the advantage of living in San Diego which is typically a low humidity place... especially the last few weeks, we've had a lot of 95 degree, 12% humidity, 20-25 knot wind days... If the transom hasn't been wet too long, it's not over a large area, and you drill enough holes, you can...

First day on the water w 208, cruise speed off ?

I've got the 1995 version of the same hull with the same bait tank mounted in the same location. Even when that is fully filled, fuel tanks full, 10 gallon fresh water shower tank full, and 3 guys fishing on the back, we do not get water on the deck through the scuppers. Since you had water...

    208 Adventure trim tab placement

Mount as far outboard as possible. But before you start drilling holes, make sure you have clearance on the inside of the transom for the hydraulic fittings.

Adventurer 208 gas tank volume shortage

Tomolalla, For what it's worth, I made some measurements today on my tank. Maybe they will be useful for you. It's 7 inches from the top of the tank to the deck at the forward inspection port for the fill hoses and just under 5 inches from the top of the tank to the deck at the aft inspection...

    Fuel Meter Help

Do you have the Yamaha fuel management system? If so, it will only show gallons used, not remaining. You'll have to top off your tanks and do the math.

Adventurer 208 gas tank volume shortage

It's been a while since I've had the inspection ports off, but if memory serves me correct, the tank is not flat on top. There is actually a raised area where the fill and vent lines come in to the tank. But I can't really recall. I was at the boat yesterday and now not again until next week...

    Gas Tank Capacity Problem

Should be the other way around, no? Stern down, bow up since the fill tube and vent are at the bow end of the tank.

    Gas Tank Capacity Problem

Assuming you're filling while on the trailer? How does your boat sit when connected to your tow vehicle? Since you're manually measuring the fuel level through the sending unit hole (I think?) at the aft end of the tank, and the fill tube is at the front of the tank, if the front of the tank is...
