Grady 208 thru hull tranny position 1kW

My only experience with a thru-hull transducer is one the previous owner installed. It was as far aft and as far outboard to the starboard side away from the keel as possible with access to it from the bilge (just forward and outboard from the livewell thru-hull pickup). Most of the time it...

New Grady White 208 owner with few winch/hardware qn's

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the board! My 2 cents... run that 175 until it dies. With ours, the sweet spot is 4000-4200 RPM's where we can get 2.8 mpg on nice water, but the fuel economy curve is fairly flat from 3600 to 4400 RPM's. Guys posting numbers with 4-strokes are getting...

    ICOM 504 reception issues

So did you do the automated radio check using the 504? If so, I'd guess the antenna is at least in decent shape since you were able to transmit. If you can transmit, you should be able to receive. If you turn the squelch down do you get static? I'm wondering if the speaker may have just crapped out?

    Bad Rectifier?

Reading 13 volts on a new, fresh charged battery isn't out of the norm. Each cell can hold up to 2.2 volts per cell (6 cells total, for 13.2 volts). But typically the battery won't hold that charge for too long and drop down to 12.6 volts (2.1 volts per cell). 14 volts with the motor running is...

    Constant radio power 208 adventure

Are you talking about a stereo or a VHF radio? Stereo's will lose presets without battery, VHF's should not...

    Question on 1994 208 Adventure

x2 on what Smoky said. The F150 is right at the minimum power for that boat, slightly under-powered for my tastes, so going stainless and possibly 4-blade should help. Your prop shop should allow you to sea trial a few different props to see what works the best.

    Cat Urine on Cushion Covers

I've had the cat using the bimini as a bed problem. The solution to that was to put a fender underneath the bimini so that it's suspended above the cabin. Had feral cat issues in the past dragging rabbits, squirrels, and whatever else they caught to eat on deck under the cover... Had rats get...

    Show me your custom baitwell

I've never had that problem. From what I recall, the underside of the boxes are not gelcoated but there are no exposed fibers. Occasionally I'll take a spray bottle of bleach water and spray around inside there (and in the bilges), mainly to take care of any mildew.

    Show me your custom baitwell

I use the under step live well and storage areas on either side of the cuddy. If it's a good day and those get full, then a large cooler on the cuddy floor gets filled, but that doesn't happen as often as I'd like! I found a cooler that fits on the floor perfectly with the center cushions...

    Show me your custom baitwell

You could always go with a "west coast" style bait tank from Offshore Products (http://www.offshoreproducts.com/), Pacific Edge (http://www.pacificedgetackle.com/category.aspx?categoryID=40), Kodiak (http://www.kodiakmarine.com/) I have a Kodiak PF32 in my 208, which is functional but not the...

208 with Yamaha F150 Outboard.. low power

What exactly are the symptoms you're seeing? The F150 is right at the minimum horsepower for the boat, bordering on under-powered, in my opinion. Especially when loaded up with fuel, gear, people, rough water, and whatever else (I'm sure there will be some that disagree with me, given on how...

    what truck to buy?

5000 lbs +/- a few hundred pounds is pretty close. For my rig, I figured the following in round numbers: 2700 hull 450 motor 550 full fuel 100 full water 1200 trailer 300 misc junk on board. = 5300 total I tow it with an F150 SuperCrew with the base 3.7L V6 which is also my daily commuter...

    208 Fuel tank question

You are definitely missing a screw. It's a standard SAE 5 bolt pattern. The next trick is tracking down the right stainless bolt, which I believe is an Imperial size (though I can't recall what size it is at the moment...)

    Impossible dome light question

x2 on what seasick said. You've got a bad wire somewhere. It's still connected so you can get 12 volts, but the resistance is too high to draw enough current to power the light bulb. You'll have to trace the wires back and check every splice and connection in the circuit. If it were me, I'd...

    Adding trim tabs to 208

On ours, I mounted the pump on the transom in the bilge dead center under the motor well. I probably should have put it where the factory installs it, starboard side storage compartment in the cuddy. But the hydraulic lines that come in the kit weren't long enough and I wanted to get the...

    Adventure 208 steering stuck

Yes, like pbaygrady states, the motor will have to be lifted to get the steering rod out.

    Adventure 208 steering stuck

Since you can move the steering rod a little bit, I'd disconnect it from the cable and start working it to see if you can get it to move freely again. Since it's spinning, I'm leaning towards the steering cable being frozen. Once you have the steering cable disconnected, at the motor end, try...

    Adventure 208 steering stuck

Mechanical or hydraulic steering? If mechanical, first step is to disconnect the steering rod from the steering cable and see if you can then move the rod or then move the steering wheel. If the steering wheel is stuck, then it's the steering cable that will need to be replaced. Once those...
