Merc has a 7-year thing going, as well. But, yeah, that's a big chunk 'o money different!

    1995 Sailfish 272 Repower. Suzuki 200 or 225??

Four stroke Mercs are $6,500 more? That's a huge difference. Is that dollar amount worth it in terms of performance? Or... what is the Zuke lacking? I'm just amazed at the difference in price.

It does make sense... in theory :)

    Gulfstream 232 W/ Single Yamaha 250 4S

Since we're bombarding you with info... IF it turns out you are trimming up high enough like we talked about and your RPM's are too high for the speed... the prop might be too small. While diameter is one measure, we more commonly refer to a prop as being big/small based on it's "pitch" - which...

    Gulfstream 232 W/ Single Yamaha 250 4S

Good question. Typically, though, a spun "hub" (the rubber piece inside the prop that connects the splined piece to the blades... kind of like the clutch on a car) will allow an engine to all of a sudden OVER rev under high load. It doesn't sound like that is your issue. BUT... a quick...

    Gulfstream 232 W/ Single Yamaha 250 4S

Oh, wait... re-reading some things... did you ALREADY go WOT with the engine trimmed up? It kinda sounds like you may have done that. In that case, there's a problem. But maybe verify so we know for sure that you did that test already?

    Gulfstream 232 W/ Single Yamaha 250 4S

Totally fine! Actually, that helps tremendously that you mention that - I appreciate the honesty! This might be lengthy, but hopefully it's helpful... So... for now, forget about the tabs. You can play with them after you get used to the boat using engine trim. Tabs a wonderful tool to have...

    Gulfstream 232 W/ Single Yamaha 250 4S

I don't know if you missed my response or chose not to repsond to it for some reason, but there's a few things I brought up that should help if you could respond to them. One in particular is that you haven't told us how you are trimming the engine for WOT. The speed you mentioned falls in...

    Gulfstream 232 W/ Single Yamaha 250 4S

What do you mean by "major performance gap"? I don't see where you stated something to compare it to - the only thing you noted was your cruising speed and what may be stated max speed by others. Also, keep things the same - either knots or MPH. Comparing to my boat (see signature), that...

    Trailering

Billy, what weight have you calculated your boat's "wet" weight to be? This means the boat, engine, gear, fuel, etc. After that, figure close to 1,500lbs for an aluminum trailer and close to 2,000lbs for a steel trailer. How does that fall in line with your truck? Half ton trailering weight...

    Transom Door Latch

Who makes the latch? Any ID markings on it? Maybe it's Southco - try looking for it on their website and then maybe contact them.

    Seakeeper Ride on Grady 235

Quantase, you mentioned that you're pretty happy with the boat as is and only really use your tabs a little bit. The Seakeeper system is essentially another type of tabs system - although it works faster than traditional tabs. It also works automatically. HOWEVER, you can add an auto-tab...

89 25.5 Sailfish repower weight question

Steve, I think that's way out of the budget allotment he has set aside for this switch! :) Sea Ray - what's the actual weight difference? I know my 250 weighs about 525lbs - but I don't know what the others weigh. What do your current engines each weigh? Can you better explain what "close"...

Question on replacing the Gypsy on a 2012 Freedom 335

Actually, probably not - based on what you said. You said it was slipping at the splice - which means it sounds like it winds up fine while on just the chain. IF it winds fine when on just the rope and since you said it was fine till the change... the most logical thing is that the splice is...

    Water in Sailfish

Ron, can you answer the rest of the questions? It will help us help you. Specifically, about how water "could" be getting in... floor wet, livewell, etc.

    Adventure 208 steering

Rigging tubes will be there - not always "easily" seen - you just need to look better. Follow some of the things from the bilge that go forward, around the stbd corner. Whatever you pull out - just make sure you tape any snag points. And/or smoothly tape the messenger/chaser to the new item...

    Water in Sailfish

Search on here (and the net) for more info, but most likely the reason you are seeing this is because (as is typical with Grady's), the stern bilge is actually higher than the mid bilge. Meaning, water will first collect in the mid bilge - if there's enough, it will then run towards the stern...

Question on replacing the Gypsy on a 2012 Freedom 335

What size chain and rope do you have? That determines the gypsy you will want. In other words, match it up to the chain/rope you currently have. What may or may not have been there from the factory is not important.
