Can someone tell me what this is?

Yep. If you don't have a fix, it could be the problem. Fairly inexpensive as boat things go to replace and eliminate the receiver.

258 Journey vs 228 Seafarer, for the windy west coast?

Bigger is better if you can swing it.

Need input on quality fishing tools

I like the Danco pliers when they are on sale. They are decent and don't break the bank. When they get old, toss and buy more.

    Repower or Upgrade?

I think I'd get some prices for the repower as well as look at the used larger boats and determine the spread. 1300H on the hull really isn't much and for that matter on the engines either. Comes down to cost delta, affordability for you, how much do you use the boat and do the extra features...

    Helm seats

50/50 cost issue for sure. The right new seat does wonders if you can swing it. Check out Llebroc.

    Transom Construction

GW made stepped hulls in the 1990s as I recall. On at least one model they extended it back to the transom.

What kind of hours do you rack-up?

100 hrs is typical the past few years, sometimes a tad less. I find the long days on the sand bar these days really has cut it back.

Marlin 300 Rod Holders Up Front

Water will go into the bilge or worse cabin. Rail mounted is the way to go. You will find you don't use them much up there. Keep the space for spinners.

advice for first winter in PNW

Treat the gas and the water and head systems. If you can, get to the boat every couple of weeks if you have a battery charger and charge. Alternatively, you can charge the batteries, disconnect and leave on the boat or pull and charge at home. Maybe consider shrinkwrapping in the water if it...

Marine Air heat on 330 express

It works ok on heat, you're not going to get blasting heat but it will slowly raise the temp in the cabin. I have a small electric heater that works fine for the few times I need it as the cabins really are not large areas.

    Snap Unfastener

These are the ticket. The plastic GW ones lose their effectiveness as they wear.

Joining the list of Grady owners who have to repower or give it away…

This is really nothing as far as corrosion goes.

First Grady - Which Model Would Work Best For Us?

GW is a good boat. It does have its share of short comings. It may cost a lot more than others, but I'm not sold that the price means it is a lot better. I went with the walkaround as I had 4 children and getting to the bow is a must. I'm not hanging on for dear life with an express. I have...

First Grady - Which Model Would Work Best For Us?

I'd expand my boat search and not be so stuck on a GW. GWs are a decent boat but there are others - some with a much bigger bang for the buck. A small cuddy gives you a tight spot to get out of the weather and a head location which is good for the family but fairly tight. With GW your paying...

    Grady 340 Express Announced

I think the starboard helm is a big win. The helm area was too tight (5 lbs in a 3 lb bag) in my opinion. Wonder if the hull really changed or just a rebranded 33. They did the same with other boats in the past to justify the price tag.

    Missing trim tab 282 Sailfish

screws hold it on. maybe they got corroded over the years and the screws pulled out. i'd look at some zincs when you replace it.
