I too keep mine in a ditch bag. Figure "In the even" its much easier to direct someone to GRAB THE YELLOW BAG!!!! Than have one person dedicated to try and pull it from somewhere. The bags float as well.

Let us know how the commissioning goes. I have simard as well but have heard they can be finicky to hold a line. I agree with the suggested compass location. It should be low near center line unless you get the HS 75 which can be mounted anywhere.

I second Glacierbaze's comment. I mounted one on my 265 no problem. Thru bolt and seal the holes and do not let it shine on the bow. Otherwise it is as straight forward as you think. Black Oak LED are awsome!

I know what you mean. Mine had a small crack in the bottom, so I found a local fiberglass shop that built them up from the inside. So now the original is still the outside layer and the inside is thick 1/4" fiberglass. Should last now! They are five times heavier but at least they are now...

This gives me a good idea, I have Hydro-dipped my GPS covers. I bet they can dip the whole thing! and the covers have stood up well to sun and weather. Heck, they dip whole fenders on cars! Now to just think of a color or pattern.......Carbon fiber!

Interesting idea! I might toy with that. I think there are multiple other parts on the 265 that are the same plastic. Im specifically thinking of the rear corner bins. those are removable and I could paint the bottoms as a sample. would never see it if it didnt work!!!

Yeah I noticed that as well. Mine really looks like trash, and since my Eisenglass (sp?) is removed seems like removal of the windshield would be doable. We will see if i get any further on this. one of many things I "want" to do vs. "need" to do! Haha

Question, anyone painted their dash cowling on a 265 express to address the discoloration? Mine is not only yellowed like this one but the clear lamination is blistering. Would it be best to just sand it down and paint with some sort of plastic rated paint?

For sure! I guess my best bet is to just build a mockup and see where it fits. Right now I have to crawl up the side of the boat and try and reach over to put rods up there and in our west coast swell I have almost fallen trying to hang on from up there!!

Anyone with a 265 or similar ever installed an aftermarket Rod Rack like this? The origional on mine is mounted on the roof and they site at least 8 inches higher. I am a shorter guy and thought this might be a suitable replacement? What are your thoughts. It could be that this may be too short...
