    SmokyMtnGrady is Famous!!!

I do have the only local Grady on Fontana. The little people in their pontoons and bass boats are like peasants to me. I have to keep up appearances.

    Updating stereo on boat 228

No,no sub. I want one but just can't figure out where . If I was say 28 and single , a sub is must to impress the ladies at the sandbar or the nearby wake boat. Ever notice dudes in wake boats have like a 3 to 1 ratio of ladies to dudes? Why is that you ask? Scientific evidence says sub...

    Updating stereo on boat 228

Hey Guys: I got all my parts. I am going with a Fusion Apollo M690 hide away unit, 7.7 JL audio coax speakers for the inspection ports, JL Vex pods for the cockpit and ,Garmin GXM 54 XM sat receiver. The fusion has a built in class D amp with total output of 70 watts per channel at 280 watts...

Motor hole position on a bracket 228

Hey Wrx, Whats the max RPM you are getting. I have yet to get my 4.2 to spin up past 5400. I have tried 3 blade yammy and a 4 blade power tech and both spin up to the same. My 3.3 would spin up to 6,100 . kY gets to that as well and he is on hole 3.

Drain plugs in rear deck scuppers?

Rhylick, where again are you buying the flapper . Mine work 100% of the time just 60% of the time. It might be time to replace .

Drain plugs in rear deck scuppers?

The system works because water doesn't naturally flow up hill. When the boat is empty at the dock or on the hook the decks will drain and seawater ,even if it gets past the flapper won't bother anything because your deck drain is above the the scupper through hull fitting. Now if your hoses...

Scummy Things Fellow Boaters Have Done To Others...

I was trolling for dolphin off of Key largo and heading north. I was in 250 feet of water and doing about 5-7 knots when a jack wagon in his 40-50 cruiser came in behind him heading east doing 25-30 knots . It was clear as day I was trolling with my outriggers out and I use high vis yellow...

Drain plugs in rear deck scuppers?

My 228 does it without a kicker . I troll and sometime when slow down or stop and the big guy is in the back we get water on the deck. It doesn't bug me. I would NOT block those drains even on a big boat . That's a huge safety risk and the drains make the boat self bailing . I have taken...

    Deck Drain/Hose Replacement - 225 Tournament

I did my 228 with new hoses and I even bought the current stainless deck drain fittings too. It's actually a fairly straightforward project especially if you put in new deck drains . This way you don't have to worry if you crack one trying to get the oem hoses off. The set up of a 225 and 228...

    Florida to Bimini trip

JRspawn, You will want to get detailed info on the Bahamas COVID requirements before you go. It's like. 55 miles out of Miami to Bimini . If you don't want to mess with Haulover inlet you could motor down to Blackpoint Marina and head out through Biscayne Bay. The other thing is to check...

    Florida to Bimini trip

I have done it with my 228. You should run from Miami though as it's a straight shot versus Ft. Lauderdale. We ran from Key Largo because we met up with friends there . We stayed at Bimini sands. It's not the Abacos . It's nice for what it is and the waters are very sharky. I would go again.

Motor hole position on a bracket 228

Hey Guys, I repowered in 17 and yes 5 years later I have not got the boat dialed in to what I think it should be. Mid Carolina mounted the motor on the top hole on the bracket and top on the motor. I ran it for 2 seasons like this. Then KY suggested moving it at least one hole on the motor ...

What is the right trailer for a new Freedom 235

My advice is to get the best trailer you can afford and don't go cheap. Tandem axle trailer would be ideal with Kodiak stainless brakes . I would go with 15 inch wheels with 6 lug hubs. Your right on the edge there of needing a 7,500 pound trailer and the next size up.

Major failure from rot and delamination

There was that 27 footer in Puerto Rico last summer that sunk or capsized after it was repowered with bigger Zukes. I don't know of this counts or not . It was a strange situation. Saw it on one of the Facebook GW groups .

    TheHullTruth

Since the COVID stuff and election drama , my desire to be on Facebook is non-existent. I hope Great Grady doesn't fade away anytime soon.. I have not looked at Facebook since September. I have to admit one thing. When I was in the hospital with COVID in August my wife posted stuff on...

Y'all need to just embrace the hate of THT and Grady . it's Yella Fin , Freeman , and SeaVee or Contender. It should just called center console . I have accepted the THT reality that my boat as we speak is nothing more than a rotting hulk on my trailer and when I leave it in the water I...
